Weishaar qualifies for state gymnastics meet in Pasco

Tori Weishaar, age 10, daughter of Traig and Carmen Weishaar of Odessa, competed in the Eastern Washington State Sectionals April 9 and qualified for the Washington State Level 5 State Gymnastics Meet to be held in Pasco on April 29-May 1. Tori has competed in four regular meets this year, placing in each one with three second places and one seventh place. At Level 5, she competed against many other 10-year-olds.

At each meet Tori competes in the vault, floor exercise, uneven bars and balance beam. Her favorite event is the uneven bars, and she reached her personal best score of a 9.225 (perfect being 10.0) at the Sectionals meet. The individual event scores are added together to make an “all-around” score, which is how the gymnasts are placed.

Tori's personal goal this year was to acheive a 35-point overall score (scoring at least 8.75 in each of the four events), and she was able to reach that goal.

Tori still attends gymnastics at AIM Gymnastics Center in Moses Lake, where she practices three days a week for three-hour blocks. Tori’s plans are to compete at Level 7 during next year’s winter season.
