INCIDENT LOG

Editor's note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

July 11: Two pit bulls were reported loose in the vicinity of Third and Adams streets in Davenport.

No injuries were reported in a traffic collision involving a motorcycle at Morgan and Twelfth streets in Davenport.

A caller told dispatchers of several speeding violations by a Sprague city truck traveling on Sprague Highway Road East.

A woman reported someone had illegally dumped trash in a private dumpster in the 36000 block of Mill Canyon Road North in the Moccasin Bay community.

A caller noticed possible suspicious activity at the prayer chapel on SR 2 near Creston.

While stopped in Davenport, two motorcyclists without helmets were advised by a deputy to purchase the protective headgear as soon as possible to avoid risk of injury and additional citations.

Assistance by law enforcement was requested in a child custody dispute involving two residents of Creston.

July 12: A deputy was dispatched to deal with a "disruptive juvenile female" at the Davenport Water Park.

While riding a bicycle with a friend along Waukon Road about eight miles north of Reardan, a woman was bitten by a dog that "came out of nowhere." The woman required treatment at the Reardan Medical Clinic.

A caller reported someone pried open the fuel door and tried to siphon gas from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Adams Street in Harrington. Handprints on another vehicle in the area also were noticed.

A Sprague woman requested assistance with an 11-year-old boy who went to a corner and began banging his head against a wall after she stopped a fight involving him and his 6-year-old brother. A responding deputy told the boy that he "had to do what his mother said."

Pigs being raised by the Davenport High School FFA got loose from their pen in the vicinity of Eighth and Monroe streets.

A property owner noticed that a latch had been broken and a door kicked in at a rental unit in the 700 block of SE Railroad Avenue in Wilbur.

July 13: A caller reported that five juveniles playing in the Davenport city park were "pretty loud."

A caller told dispatchers that her car had been backed into while at the Keller Ferry campground.

A caller said his party had become stranded without a boat in rising water at Plum Point, about a mile upriver from Spring Canyon.

A property owner noted that a neighbor's cows were on his property along SR 174 near Microwave Tower Road in the Wilbur area. A responding deputy counted 11 cattle in that area.

The theft of six 10-foot steel center drivers from a rod weeder on Vostral Road between Davis and Weber roads was reported.

Dispatchers learned that a vehicle was seen recklessly passing five other vehicles at a time on SR 2 near Reardan.

A pickup truck went off Sprague Highway a half-mile south of Fishtrap Road and landed in a farmer's field. No one was reported hurt.

A deputy stopped a vehicle after dispatchers took a report that a purple car almost ran another vehicle off the roadway on SR 21 near Kuchenbuch Road.

Under a deputy's supervision, three Davenport individuals arguing about the return of a food stamp card and a jacket exchanged the items.

A fire in a pit along Bennett Road near SR 2, thought to have been put out three weeks before, apparently flared up, sending a lot of heavy smoke into the air.

July 14: Front end damage was sustained by one of two vehicles involved in a collision between the Davenport Public Library and AmericanWest Bank.

Two male residents in the Lincoln Hospital nursing home apparently were involved in an altercation.

Dispatchers received several reports of a plane clipping a power line along Gollehon Road, with the pilot from Wilbur-based Greg's Crop Service still inside. He was able to land safely at the Wilbur airport. Electricity service was interrupted to several homes for a time.

A woman told a National Park Service officer that she had been distracted and looking for a place to pull over when her vehicle went into the ditch twice on SR 25 about 20 miles north of Davenport.

July 15: Law officers found a man sleeping in his car outside the Spring Canyon cemetery office.

A Lakeview Terrace resident discovered drug paraphernalia that had been left behind by a recent visitor.

Deputies responded to a possible intoxicated driver whose vehicle had been observed traveling into the ditch and crossing the centerline several times on SR 174 between Grand Coulee and Wilbur. A stop was made near the Telford rest area.

Two young men were transported by ambulance from the Seven Bays area to Lincoln Hospital after the jet ski they were riding suddenly "exploded" after one of them pressed the start button, sending both about 10 feet into the air.

A juvenile on a motorized scooter who was almost hit by a pickup truck near Third and Sinclair streets in Davenport was advised by a deputy how to operate the machine and to wear a helmet.

Two old batteries from old vehicles on property in the 300 block of South Fifth Street in Harrington were reported stolen.

Dispatchers took several calls of possibly intoxicated and/or reckless drivers along SRs 2 and 25 throughout the county.

Wilbur firefighters were dispatched after receiving a report of smoke and flames spotted from southwest of Wilbur's town limits. A burn barrel was determined to be the source.

Odessa Police came upon five juveniles allegedly smoking marijuana in the town park.

July 16: Dispatchers took a report of possible animal cruelty involving a dog in the 100 block of Seventh Street in Almira.

A Sterling Valley Road resident reported fireworks in the area were disturbing her and her animals.

Davenport ambulance personnel responded to a report that a 60-year-old man had passed out while inside Davenport Family Foods.

A deputy helped remove a key that became stuck in a lock at a residence in the 400 block of Ross Street in Davenport, where dispatchers had heard a verbal dispute during a call for assistance.

A Davenport man reported receiving several harassing phone calls from a woman and asked a deputy for help in getting her to stop calling his residence.

Deputies investigated a case of telephone harassment in the Wilbur area.

July 17: A vehicle smashed through the front wall of Davenport Family Foods, resulting in cuts and scrapes to a store employee from falling glass.

A resident of the 1100 block of Main Street in Davenport reported that a neighbor's pet rabbit had eaten plants in his yard.

A deputy wasn't able to locate four juveniles younger than 11 years of age that reportedly were playing in portable toilets in the vicinity of the Davenport skate park.

Two boys reportedly threatened a dog with a stick and the animal's owner when he warned them not to hit it in the 200 block of South B Street in Sprague.

Lincoln firefighters were sent to a structure fire in the 36000 block of Welch Creek Road North.

Odessa Police responded to a report of a woman who came into a local bar, flashed a Liquor Control badge and asked where business records and the safe were before leaving. In a separate incident, the theft of a $700 stereo system outside the establishment was reported.
