Lincoln County Fair results are in the record books

The results of the Lincoln County Fair have been released and only the swine results have somehow gone missing and will be provided later.

Display booths representing the theme of this year’s fair were entered by Canniwai Grange of Odessa, which took first place and the Lincoln County Pomona Grange of Marlin which took second place. The Odessa/Harrington FFA chapters worked together on a display entitled “Is There Yellow in Your Green?”, which won Best of Show.

In the FFA Poster category, Alexis Burdick of Odessa won Best of Show.

The winning barn for herdsmanship in the large animal category was the silver horse barn. In the small-animal category, the rabbit barn won for herdsmanship.

In the Round Robin category, herdsmanship is demonstrated on several different animals not raised by the individual participating. Nick Nelson of Odessa won a trophy in FFA Jr./Sr. large animal division. David Eldridge of Odessa won a trophy for the 4-H intermediate small-animal classification.

Raising and showing beef this year were Caleb Singer of Odessa who had the 4-H market steer grand champion, as well as the overall grand champion. William Mann of Sprague had the 4-H market steer overall reserve grand champion and the FFA market steer grand champion.

Justin Hunt of Odessa had the 4-H market steer reserve grand champion and Lexie Hirst of Harrington had the FFA market steer reserve grand champion.

Bradley Singer of Odessa had the 4-H breeding beef reserve grand champ, and Caleb Singer of Odessa had the FFA reserve grand champ in fitting & showing.

Jared King of Odessa had the 4-H Sr. reserve grand in fitting & showing, while Colton Hunt of Odessa in 4-H intermediate fitting & showing was named overall showman and grand champion.

In 4-H fitting & showing, Caleb Singer had the intermediate reserve grand champion and Bradley Singer had the junior grand champion.

No local people showed goats or rabbits this year.

In the open horse category, Porter Whitmore of Odessa won a trophy in the leadline category, as did Ashley Zaglow of Odessa and Kade Roller of Harrington.

For poultry, David Eldridge’s chicken won the Commissioners’ Award. Elizabeth Hayashi of Odessa had the grand champion in the open class of poulty fitting & showing and David Eldridge had the grand champion in 4-H intermediate fitting & showing.

Macy Singer of Odessa had the grand champion in the open youth breed class and Jonathan Hayashi, Jr. had the reserve grand champion in the same class.

In the 4-H breed class, David Eldridge had both the grand champion and the reserve grand champion.

Debra Armstrong of Harrington had the FFA reserve champion market lamb and was also reserve champion in Fr/So fitting & showing. Porter Whitmore had the first reserve champion in the open fitting & showing class.

Under 4-H Crafts and Fine Arts, Debra Armstrong won Best of Show for both her Red Angel and for her plowing photo.

Tim DeWulf of Odessa won the People's Choice award for his Native American Button Blanket.

In baking, Barbara Armstrong of Harrington won Best of Show for her Orange Pineapple Zucchini Bread in the adult category.

In canning, Susan Jensen of Odessa won a Special Award for her dill pickles and the Ball Award (sponsored by the Ball Canning Company) for her whole-kernel corn.

For crafts, Cindy Roller of Harrington won special awards for both her i-phone case and her leather carved recipe book.

In Fine Arts, Ashley Schenk of Harrington won a special award for “The Harvester.”

In Knitting & Crocheting, Clarene Haynie of Odessa received Best of Show and the Commissioners’ Award for her cable and lace vest.

For photography, Jonathan Hayashi, Jr. won Best of Show in the junior category for his Yellow Hawaiian Hibiscus and the People's Choice award for his Hawaiian Bouquet. Nancy Floether of Odessa won a special award in the adult category for her Flowering Onion.

Juli Weishaar of Odessa won Best of Show and the People’s Choice Award for her quilt “Hocuspocusville.”

In scrapbooking, Odessa Cub Scout Pack #784 won a special award for its Club Book.

In sewing, Michelle Bang of Harrington won the Commissioners’ Award for her Rapunzel costume.

Building with Legos, David Hayashi of Odessa won a special award for his Viper Coaster, and Riley Roller of Harrington also won a special award for his Technic Logging Truck. David Eldridge won Best of Show for his “Family Home.”

Audrey Beck of Odessa entered nine exhibits in the sewing section of the fair and received eight first-place ribbons, one of which also received a special award, and one second-place ribbon.

The only swine results we have been made aware of thus far are that Marlee Eldridge had the grand champion 4-H hog and Katie DeWulf had the reserve grand champion FFA hog.
