Kathleen (Lobe) Andrews

Kathleen "Kathy" (Lobe) Andrews, loving mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on August 22nd, 2012 at the age of 69.

Kathy was born on March 15, 1943 in Odessa, WA to Leo & Viola (Zeiler) Lobe. She was raised on a wheat farm the oldest of three children. At age 16, she quit high school to marry Larry Ramm. From this marriage, her three beautiful children were born that survive her.

On June 25, 1966, she married Kermit (Andy) Andrews in Couer d'Alene, ID. They met in Moses Lake, WA where Andy was stationed at Larson AFB. Less than eight months after their marriage, Andy was sent to serve in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, the family moved to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. Upon Andy's retirement from the Air Force, they moved to McAlester, OK, back to Moses Lake and finally settling in Walla Walla in 1968. This area, Kathy called home.

Kathy finished high school through a correspondence course. She also attended Walla Walla Community College taking business courses. In 1982, she took the Nursing Assistants class at WWCC. In the mid-80s, she attended a business college in Bellevue, WA.

Kathy worked at Sherwood & Roberts, Morrison's Supply, along with many local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Most recently, she worked for Walla Walla Community Hospice. She truly loved this job for it gave her a new insight on her career. She dearly loved caring for her patients in their last weeks, days and minutes. Her philosophy was "to give 200%" on a daily basis; even though she worked two jobs for many years. Caring and helping others was her top priority.

In 2004, she had to take an early retirement due to breast cancer, but worked what hours she could with Hospice. She then found time to knit, quilt and hang with friends. Kathy enjoyed life in her way.
