O-H girls on losing end in weekend basketball action

O-H vs. Wellpinit

Junior varsity

Friday’s game against Wellpinit on their home court was a loss for Titan JV squad, 51-32.

Scoring for O-H was pretty evenly split. Casey Schlomer had 9, Sam Nighswonger 8, Shelbey Watkins 7, Lanessa Simon 6 and Kaeli Shockly 2..

Schlomer was the defensive standout with 14 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Ashley Baarstad had 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Simon had 3 rebounds, 5 steals, 1 assist; Watkins 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist.

Varsity

The varsity team also took a loss to Wellpinit, 40-27. Even revved-up Cydnee Kieffer’s 15 points could not turn the tide against the Wellpinit team.

Also scoring were Katie DeWulf, Chelsea Fisher and Carley Williams, each with 4 points.

DeWulf grabbed 8 rebounds and had 2 steals and 2 assists. Fisher had 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists; Jordyn Tanke 6 rebounds and 5 assists; Kieffer 2 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 assist.

Wilbur/Creston dominated the JV girls, 39-25.

Simon and Schlomer had 8 points each, Watkins 7 and Baarstad 2.

Schlomer led in rebounds with 10, plus 1 steal and 1 assist. Simon had 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists; Baarstad 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and Shockley 1 rebound, 1 steal, 5 assists.

Varsity

The varsity team, playing in Wilbur, lost to the W/C Wildcats, 42-23.

A good defensive first half was followed by a disastrous second half, as the Wildcats came alive and outscored the Titans 30 points to 10. Williams and Kieffer scored 7 points apiece and DeWulf added 6. Fisher scored 1 free throw and Tanke added 2 points.

Defensively, Tanke had 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists; Fisher 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 4 assists; DeWulf 7 rebounds, 1 steal; Kieffer 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist.
