Titans are league champs, beat Selkirk in playoff game

The Titans move on after defeating Selkirk Tuesday at home in Odessa. The action started at 3 p.m. with a playoff game between Selkirk and Northport of the Panorama League. The winner of that game was Selkirk which then faced off against the Titans.

The Titans pulled out the win, but it was a close one, 10-9.

Justin Hunt was the starting pitcher, relieved by Jared King in the fifth inning. Sanford was at catcher. Carsen Weber, King, and Markus Smith all got doubles in the game, with Smith adding a triple as well.

April 30 vs. Wilbur-Creston

The Titans finished their regular season with an unblemished record of 20-0 and headed into district play on May 7 as the number one seed and NE B-1 League Champions. This is the second consecutive year the Titans have captured the league title. Last season the Titans finished as league champions and district champions, then took third place at state after losing to the 2012 state-champion Colton Wildcats.

In game 1, the score was Titans 10, Wildcats 3.

Hunt was the pitcher, throwing six strikeouts, five bases on balls and two batters hit by pitches). Catcher was Stetson Sanford.

Hitting singles for the Titans were Sanford, Carsen Weber, Cade Weber (2), Markus Smith (2), Justin Hunt and Nick Tebow (2). Hitting doubles were Markus Smith and Jake Tanke. Jared King slammed a home run.

In game two, the Titans won 10 to 2. The pitcher was Jared King, who threw four strikeouts and had six bases on balls. Catcher was Sanford.

Hitting singles for the Titans were Sanford, Carsen Weber, Cade Weber (2), King (2), Smith (3) and Tanke (2). There were no extra base hits.
