O-H third in sub-district playoffs; move on to district

In a final season match at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Blanchard, Idaho on April 29, Colfax High took first with 454 points. Two of its players also finished in the top three. Hunter Weitze with an 83 was third, and Kasey Johnson with a 77 finished first.

Davenport’s Palmer Guhlke finished second with a 79.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague finished second in the team standings with 484 points. Colby Starring was fourth with an 86 and Trevor Jantz was fifth with an 87.

Odessa-Harrington came in third in the team competition with 499.

Madison Charlton shot an 89, which was good enough for seventh. Griffey Powell shot 97, Nick Nelson 102, Ricky Hedreen 98, William Mann 113 and Bo Ganning 25.

Sub-district

“It was one of the nicest weather days to play sub-district golf that we have had in several years,” said golf coach Sam Read of the May 6 match at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake. “The O-H boys rose to the occasions with some of their best scores of the year.”

The Titans took third place behind Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in first and Colfax in second. The Titans move on to district play next Monday, May 13, again at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake.

Madison Charlton scored an 85 for fourth, Ricky Hedreen an 88 for seveth, Griffey Powell a 90 for 11th and Nick Nelson a 97 for 17th. Bo Gunning shot 132 and William Mann shot 143, but both failed to qualify for district.

Palmer Guhlke of Davenport was the top golfer with a 76, easily outpacing Kasey Johnson of Colfax who was second with 84.
