Halloween carnival held

By ERICA WHITMORE

The Halloween Carnival on October 30 had the largest attendance since 2009; the community center was packed with kids in costumes, and parents, grandparents, and visitors coming in for a delicious burger.

The FFA had two new additions this year, freshly-made cotton candy and the football toss. Kids were awarded prizes for their efforts. The FFA members greeted the kids, encouraged them to do their best at the game, and handed out prizes.

The three most popular activities were the chance to decorate a yummy Grannie BarBar Cookie with frosting and sprinkles (cookies donated by Grannie BarBar), the cake walk which ran every 10 minutes trying to win a plate of goodies to take home, and bowling, having two chances to knock down the pins.

The sophomore girls set up a fall display where participants could get their pictures taken in their costume. FFA parent Scotty Bacon was behind the camera (pictures will be sent out at the end of this week). Last, the kitchen provided burgers that were cooked and served by the Odessa FFA parents.

The following individuals and businesses supported the 2013 Halloween Carnival. Contributions were made by Friends of the Pool, Odessa Chamber of Commerce, Grannie BarBar (Barb Walter), Terrie Schmidt-Crosby, FFA parents, the Nelson family, Irene Carnes, Merleen Smith, the Cake Walk dessert donors and the Odessa School District.
