Cusick 0 20 6 24 50

O-H 6 6 0 14 26

The Titans built up a 12-point lead in the first half before Cusick came from behind and and went on to get the win.

Sam Schafer scored for the Titans in the first quarter on a 6-yard run. The point-after attempt was no good.

In the second half Carsen Weber scored on a 40-yard punt return. Again, the passing play for extra points was foiled.

Cusick then had a string of six unanswered touchdowns before the Titans finally came back to life in the fourth quarter.

Dakota Largent went 73 yards for the TD on a pass from Schafer. The extra-point attempt failed.

Schafer scored the Titans final TD, going 58 yards on a pass from Sage Elder. Schafer then ran the ball for the two-point conversion.

Offensively, Schafer had 34 yards rushing on 10 carries and was 5 for 17 passing with 1 interception; Dillon Dennison 12 yards rushing on 5 carries; Weber 20 yards rushing on 3 carries; Largent 110 yards receiving on 3 catches; Elder 1 reception for 58 yards.

On defense, Weber had 7 solo tackles, 4 assists; Jacob DeWulf 6 solo tackles, 3 assists; Schafer 4 solo tackles, 3 assists; Dennison 7 solo tackles and 6 assists; Elder 6 solo tackles, 3 sacks, 2 assists; William Mann 5 tackles, 2 assists; Caleb Behrens 3 solo tackles, 3 assists; Largent 3 solo tackles, 2 assists, 1 sack.

Coach Bruce Todd said he thought the opponents were bigger, stronger and faster as a team. “We would have had to play solid football for four quarters and not commit any mistakes to beat them. Although they finished second in their half of the league, I feel they are the best team from the northern half of our league. They are definitely the hardest hitting and most physical team we have faced this year other than Neah Bay, which in my humble opinion, is the premier team in the 1B classification this year. For any team to beat them they will have to play stellar, physical football.”

The Titans’ strong point, he said, was that, “we did a pretty good job at stopping the Panthers’ running game. They were just bigger, stronger and faster at just about every position on the field.” Where the team was weak, however, was in “stopping their passing game and establishing any offense on the ground and in the air.”

The Titans play Touchet next Friday or Saturday.
