Letter to the Editor; Many problems with ACA

To the Editor:

Many of us who buy uninsured motorist insurance do so because statistics tell us that 20% of drivers are irresponsible and either don’t have insurance or it is inadequate.

Now Obamacare comes along and we are forced to give up our policies to cover people, many of whom are irresponsible and don’t take care of themselves. The ACA statistics show 15% or 40 million people are not covered because of pre-existing conditions or they can’t afford it or don’t want it.

I believe that most of us who pay our own way would like to see what percentage of those uninsured have been quoted higher rates, because they are obese, overweight or have abused their bodies in other ways. Now we are supposed to pay more for a policy that comes from one of four groups as we possibly lose our choice of doctors, hospitals and wait longer for appointments. Then we must have enough low risk clients to offset the high risk people. Our state shows half of the clients signing up for Medicaid and many doctors have said they will not treat Medicaid clients. Is this positive?
