Wine Tasting/ Auction May 2

The annual Odessa Healthcare Foundation Wine Tasting and Auction would not be successful without the many donations from the employees of the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center, as well as other individuals and businesses of Odessa and the surrounding area.

In addition, the many talented artisans in our community have generously donated handcrafted items to the 23rd annual Odessa Healthcare Foundation Wine Tasting and Auction. This is by no means a complete list, but just a sampling of what you will find at both the silent and live auctions Friday, May 2, 2014.

You will have a chance to bid on Doug Starkel's smoked turkeys and Donna Thrall's dill pickles. For those with a sweet tooth, look for peanut brittle by Linda Kuch. Or maybe you would prefer a tray of Grannie Bar Bar's cinnamon rolls or a basket of her famous cookies. The bidding for Dr. Linda Powell's cheesecakes is always fierce, and the dessert auction continues to be very popular. This year it will feature Jena Meise's Chocolate Bacon Pecan Pie; Kerry Scheller's gourmet cupcakes plus a carrot cake; Deborah Walter's Coconut Cake, Peanut Butter Pie, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Cheesecake; Charlene Kagele's Rhubarb Custard Pie; a small-decorated cake by Maria Schuh; and a Kahlua Chocolate Trifle by Ellen Holman.

Susan Jensen has lovingly donated, in honor of her mother, Katie Gies, a handcrafted picture frame terrarium. Paul Hopp has created and donated a Wooden Patio Cooler and Pam Williams a hand-painted stepping-stone.

The many talented quilters in our community have also made donations that you don't want to miss. Look for a quilt called "Under the Rainbow," pieced by Juli Weishaar and machine quilted by Shelley Sieverkropp. Becky Kolterman has created a fleece blanket honoring the fire department and Alva Richardson, a hand appliquéd floral design quilt. Experience Quilts! has donated a quilt pieced by Patricia Gies and machine quilted by Lise Ott. Beth Schafer has created a beautiful red, brown, and turquoise queen-sized quilt. Fronen Stepdecker Quilt Club has donated a hand appliquéd floral sampler quilt, machine quilted by Farm Quilting, called "Petite Mildred's Garden."

The Odessa Healthcare Foundation greatly appreciates the donation of these handcrafted items and knows many of the attendees look forward to bidding on them.
