Letter to the Editor; Writer requests clean campaign

To the Editor:

Though I hate to write this letter, I feel that I must. I am writing as a direct communication to one of my opponents in the election for the office of county assessor. In the two weeks since I have set up my campaign signs in various locations within Grant County, none have blown down or been removed except to take them down for mowing and then they are promptly set back up. This past weekend, as I have noticed signs of my opponents go up, my signs are broken, taken down and placed on the ground or discarded. They were steadily installed and did not blow down before this. I don’t see how only my signs could blow down while others remain standing. Please stop taking my campaign signs down. I am sure that the public is aware of this and can figure it out for themselves.

I run a clean campaign and have not spoken ill of my opponents, nor do I dishonor your right to run for public office. I have even opened the assessor’s office, as it belongs to the people, to you and have spent much of my personal time sharing information about the inner workings of the office. I don’t appreciate having to spend more of my valuable time ensuring that my campaign signs are up again and again and again. So, please, stop taking my campaign signs down, and I urge you to please run a clean campaign.
