Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Sept. 29: A caller reported a horse missing in the Devils Gap area north of Reardan.

A Creston man reported three llamas messing up his garden and rubbing on a truck parked in the 300 block of NE Foster. The animals “became aggressive” when he tried to “scare them off.”

Vandalism was reported at the Davenport city park, where fires had been lit inside the bathrooms and garbage “thrown everywhere.” Deputies identified a group of juveniles as suspects.

Flaggers working U.S. 2 on the west end of Davenport reported an Idaho-licensed SUV “blew through the area” without stopping.

A trailer became disconnected from a truck traveling SR 28 near Coyote Heights Road, left the roadway and into a pile of dirt.

Deputies investigated a woman’s report that a resident of the Hawk Creek area, to which she and her husband are moving, continues to yell out commands to stay off adjacent property.

A county jail inmate who had been bitten on the head by a spider was transported to Lincoln Hospital after corrections deputies found him sweating profusely, having vision problems and experiencing swelling above an eye.

Wilbur firefighters responded to a house on fire at 505 SE County Road. One of the occupants phoned in the report, said she was attempting to put out the blaze and hung up while coughing.

A caller reported three “suspicious” individuals got out of a pickup truck and ran into a field adjacent to Rocklyn Road. He noted that he heard four gunshots before the individuals returned to the truck, which then headed south with its four-way flashers in operation. Responding deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

Two individuals found themselves locked out of a vehicle occupied by their dogs at First and Park streets in Davenport and had a difficult time acquiring a locksmith’s services.

Wilbur Police responded to a confrontation involving a juvenile boy and his mother. The boy was cited for domestic violence malicious mischief for tearing off a door and punching holes in the walls of their residence.

Odessa Police investigated the theft of 10 to 15 gallons of gas from a vehicle in the 100 block of East 1st Avenue.

Tuesday, Sept. 30: A Davenport caller requested assistance with his 14-year-old son who was refusing to go to school.

Two girls, about 13 or 14 years of age, who belonged in school at Wilbur were spotted walking north on SR 174 near the Keller turnoff wearing backpacks. They were assisted in returning to school.

Creston School personnel reported the theft of pea gravel from the playground.

Deputies investigated a threatening note left under the wiper blade of a car driven by a Harrington man.

A man was taken into custody by deputies responding to a domestic violence incident in the 300 block of SW C Street in Creston. A pregnant woman reportedly injured her arm after allegedly being pushed onto a wood pile.

A Davenport woman requested assistance with her 20-year-old son with whom she was “having problems” at a residence in the 1100 block of Ninth Street.

Wednesday, Oct. 1: “Notable damage” to a wheat field adjacent to Tebow Road was noted by a deputy responding to an animal problem there.

Responding to the 1100 block of Adams Street in Davenport, a deputy intervened in a neighborhood dispute involving someone digging under a fence and allegedly “sending cats to the pound without trying to locate their owners.”

A Lamona caller reported someone had run off North Carlson Road and into a wheat field.

Dispatchers were told about a “suspicious” man in his late 20s wearing a baseball cap, jeans and a T-shirt inside the B-Fit facility at 537 Morgan in Davenport.

A deputy advised the driver of a truck and horse trailer without lights to park overnight in Reardan. A caller observed the vehicle as it headed on U.S. 2 east from Davenport.

Thursday, Oct. 2: Deputies responded to a verbal dispute involving a man and woman at a Rainbow Street residence in Seven Bays.

Deputies investigated a possible credit card scam involving an Odessa area resident.

A deputy helped in an exchange of property between two Davenport women who had shared a residence in the 800 block of Twelfth Street.

Friday, Oct. 3: Pieces of wood were falling off a flatbed truck on U.S. 2 near Reardan.

Investigating a possible deer poaching incident in the Underwood Canyon area, deputies and Fish and Wildlife officers determined the hunter involved had the proper tags.

A deputy responded to a claim by Sprague’s mayor, John Eagleson, that he was a target of harassment.

A residence on Inkster Road in the Davenport area was reportedly “ransacked” and that a safe, guns and wedding rings had been stolen.

Deputies responded to a possible domestic violence assault in the 300 block of North Lake Street in Reardan. A man was taken to jail.

Malfunctioning railroad crossing arms were reported at Level Road and Sunset Highway.

Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a bicyclist who was involved in a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Alder Street.

Wilbur Police responded to a citizen dispute in the 300 block of NE Main Street.

Saturday, Oct. 4: Three deputies were called into action when a just-booked jail inmate suffered spasms when he fell to the floor after hitting his head on a window and striking a cell door with his hands and feet. Davenport ambulance personnel were summoned to examine his hand.

Responding to the 800 block of First Street, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted an elderly woman experiencing diabetic shock.

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Adams Street in Davenport, where two men were arguing about the ownership of a truck.

A deputy extinguished a small grass fire along U.S. 2 west of Davenport.

A woman reported her dog was hurt while running after a loose chicken near 29 Merriam Street in Davenport.

A deputy’s assistance was requested by a Harrington city employee who became involved in a dispute with a resident of the 300 block of West Sherlock Avenue while investigating a report of a dog bite.

A Harrington man was advised by a deputy that his medical marijuana card had expired.

A Davenport man requested a deputy’s assistance after a neighbor’s dog left excrement in a yard in the 1100 block of Ninth Street.

Wilbur Police responded to a dispute between two women concerning who actually owns a diamond ring valued at about $3,000.

Wilbur Police investigated a report that fuel had been taken from two vehicles parked in the Bell RV Park.

Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a man who collapsed at the Alibi Tavern.

Sunday, Oct. 5: A collision involving a vehicle and deer was reported near the intersection of SR 25 and Porcupine Bay Road.

A deputy persuaded a resident of the 900 block of Main Street in Davenport to return a dog that had gotten away from its owner, who was advised to secure a license from City Hall.

A dog, described by a responding deputy as “potentially dangerous,” got stuck underneath a vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Eighth Street in Davenport and “lunged at” a resident who was trying to free it.

A deputy facilitated a successful conclusion between the new owner of a building at 3 North 3rd Street in Almira and a man whose father had once owned it but now was informed he couldn’t enter it any longer.

A rock thrown by a lawnmower was believed to have caused breakage of a bedroom window in the 600 block of Twelfth Street in Davenport.

A bicycle was reported stolen from outside Davenport High School.

Emergency personnel assisted a 72-year-old woman who cut her head after falling, leaving blood “everywhere” at a residence in the 400 block of Ross Street in Davenport.

An Odessa man reported the theft of oxycodone from his residence in the 100 block of East 3rd Avenue.
