Letter to the Editor; Learn facts from credible sources and be cautious

To the Editor:

Should we fear Ebola, Enterovirus, R-68 or the yearly influenza that kills many tens of thousands each year? I am concerned about all of the above! However, I will not waste time worrying as we have had epidemics in several countries over several centuries that have killed millions. Here in America we had a flu epidemic that killed millions as the First World War was being fought.

I agree with Winston Churchill who said “all we have to fear is fear itself.” We are getting conflicting informaion from various sources, so we need to determine who is the most credible.

As an educator I stressed that each person has to consider the source of information. Just because it is printed or spoken does not make it the truth. This has been espeically true in recent years as we have had far too many falsehoods that were presented as facts!

Unfortunately our government has not prepared for these problems that have put us in jeopardy. For them to be talking about global warming at this critical time is unbelievable!

I plan to be informed and be as cautious as possible. What are your plans!
