Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, March 30: Emergency personnel were sent to an Edwall residence to assist a 59-year-old woman experiencing chest pain.

A Sprague man requested assistance with an incident of alleged harassment.

After a caller told dispatchers he did not want his daughter’s boyfriend at his Davenport residence, a responding deputy found no one there.

A caller reported seeing a dog tied up without food or water outside a mobile home in the Grand Coulee area.

Believing he may have been taken in by a scam, a Davenport man could be out $1,500 for a horse trailer he purchased from an Internet dealer.

A Sprague woman reports she received a response laced with foul language after asking a man to leash his pit bull dog while walking on the sidewalk in the 400 block of 5th Street.

Roadway damage was reported to Hopkins, Trussel and Stigenwalt roads northeast of Wilbur.

A deputy responded to a verbal dispute involving a man and woman in the 100 block of West Alder in Sprague.

Tuesday, March 31: Debris was scattered on SR 28 about two miles south of Davenport after the wind blew open the lid on a county recycling truck.

Two horses were reported missing from the Mill Canyon area.

No injury was reported as a result of an Odessa farmer’s tractor tipping over in Adams County. The farmer was able to get the machine upright and continue to Lincoln County.

A man whose marriage to a Wilbur woman was less than a week in duration was escorted by deputies from her residence in the 200 block of NW Cole after she filed a trespassing complaint against him. A deputy gave the man a courtesy ride to the Spokane airport.

Odessa Memorial Hospital personnel assisted a 28-year-old woman who had fallen down stairs at a residence in the 400 block of South Birch.

Reardan Police responded to a report that a small child had crawled out into the street in the vicinity of Broadway and Laurel.

Reardan Police investigated the theft of a PlayStation game device from a residence in the 300 block of East Broadway.

Wednesday, April 1: Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad officials were notified about a piece of rebar sticking out from concrete at the D Street crossing in Sprague.

Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 59-year-old man experiencing “diabetic issues.”

A Davenport woman reported being accosted by an “aggressive” dog while walking in the 800 block of Main Street.

About $1,500 worth of tools and $300 of jewelry were reported stolen during January from a residence on Whispering Pine Road in the Reardan area.

A caller became suspicious of a man he saw taking photos of buildings throughout the Harrington city limits.

A Sprague woman reported a large number of personal items were either missing or destroyed.

County corrections officers had their hands full with a Montana man who was booked into jail by the Washington State Patrol for first-degree assault in connection with a drive-by shooting incident on I-90 near Sprague. Believed to be under the influence of methamphetamine, the man was described as “uncooperative” with the WSP trooper who arrested him after responding to a report that a man displayed a firearm on I-90. The inmate also allegedly argued with the local jailers and punched a door with a hand he claimed had been injured. Later, the inmate was investigated for using a jail phone to call his mother in violation of a restraining order.

Thursday, April 2: A Davenport man reported receiving a phone call associated with a recent IRS-related scam.

Emergency personnel from Reardan, Edwall and Davenport responded to Edwall to assist a 3-year-old girl who suffered a possible seizure.

A Lincoln caller told dispatchers about receiving threats that her cats would be trapped and taken away from her residence on Lincoln Hill Place.

Dispatchers took a report of a motorcycle being ridden in the vicinity of Sixth and Ross streets in Davenport without an exhaust system.

After receiving a call about a pickup truck and loaded boat trailer traveling at high speeds on SR 25 about three miles north of Davenport, a responding deputy clocked the offending vehicle at 72 mph, made the traffic stop on U.S. 2 near Oehlwein Road, and learned from the offending driver that he was using a cell phone.

Two customers locked themselves in the back of a Main Street, Wilbur business after a “disgruntled customer caused a disturbance” there.

Reardan Police assisted the state Child Protective Services in responding to a possible child abuse incident.

Friday, April 3: Responding to the 300 block of Lake Street in Reardan, emergency personnel from Reardan, Edwall and Davenport assisted a 4-year-old boy with breathing difficulties.

Diesel fuel was spilled onto U.S. 2 (Broadway) in Reardan as a result of a truck malfunction.

Deputies investigated a possible burglary at the Odessa livestock processing plant after an employee discovered an unlocked door.

A deputy determined that a two-inch hole drilled in an Odessa area woman’s vehicle was the result of activity by a woodpecker.

Two deputies responded after a man said that while visiting property northwest of Davenport on behalf of an interested friend from Montana, he was accosted by a pistol-packing man who reached into his vehicle, grabbed his jacket with both hands and “screamed profanity” while ordering the caller to “get off (his) land.”

Saturday, April 4: Emergency personnel from Reardan, Edwall, Davenport and Wellpinit were called into action after a two-vehicle collision, with one rolling over, took place in the vicinity of SR 231 and Little Falls Road. Devils Gap Road was reported blocked. A possible neck injury was reported.

A Reardan area man told dispatchers his clothes had caught fire and he was headed to a Spokane hospital for treatment.

Reacting to a vehicle that pulled out in front of him, a caller told dispatchers that he slammed on the brakes and ended up traveling through front yards of several residences in the vicinity of Cottonwood Creek and Rambo roads.

Without informing school personnel, someone dropped off a cage and two white rats at the front door of Christian Heritage School in Edwall. They’ll become science classroom pets if no one claims ownership of them.

MedStar aerial ambulance transported a 15-year-old Sprague girl to a Spokane hospital after she was run over by a horse on property adjacent to Brown Road.

Deputies dealt with an “unwanted” individual who had been asked to leave property on Stagecoach Lane in Grand Coulee.

Odessa Police investigated the theft of 32 rings from a residence on South 5th.

Personnel at an Odessa motel told local police that a customer may have defrauded them when he reported smoke in his room and the desire to have his money returned and be moved to a new room. The employees complied, but will have an electrician check the first room for possible tampering.

Sunday, April 5: Davenport ambulance personnel assisted an 88-year-old man who was described as “extremely cold and shivering.”

A physician and nurse at Lincoln Hospital were both assaulted during an incident involving a 35-year-old man who had been transported by Creston ambulance from a Lincoln residence after appearing intoxicated and unconscious. Two deputies were summoned to the hospital to restrain the man.

A caller advised a vehicle with a rifle barrel extended from a window was observed on the south side of Sunset Highway near the fertilizer plant about a half-mile east of Davenport.

A deputy located a young Davenport area boy who hadn’t returned home after having a fight with his sister.

Odessa Police investigated a possible narcotics violation.

April 2: Jason R. Buchanan, 37, Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, held on a Franklin County warrant for failing to appear for illegal possession of marijuana.

Diana Kate Hoppes, 32, Davenport, pleaded guilty March 31 to second-degree theft in connection with the taking of more than $750 worth of cash and jewelry from a Davenport residence between Dec. 22 of last year and Jan. 11. She must serve 13 days jail (concurrent with a District Court disposition) and pay $800 in court costs and an undetermined amount of restitution. “I took some property from my mother and I’m very sorry,” she wrote on the plea paperwork filed with the court.
