Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Sept. 21: Despite a store employee’s concern, a deputy determined that a group of people camping on property owned by Safeway adjacent to the Davenport store were there by permission of the store’s night manager.

A Harrington woman reported receiving a threat by phone.

A deputy located a Wilbur boy who failed to show up for after-school football practice or to be picked up by his mother.

A Creston woman told dispatchers that a man had verbally abused her while she installed solar lights on her property.

A Grand Coulee caller reported a vehicle prowling incident near a storage unit on SR 174.

Responding to the Seven Springs Dairy Road vicinity, deputies and other emergency personnel successfully searched for a 24-year-old man who was described as possibly suicidal.

A collision involving a deputy’s patrol vehicle and deer occurred on Schuster Road near Odessa.

Reardan Police responded to a report of a homeless man in the post office lobby.

Tuesday, Sept. 22: A woman was placed into custody for trespassing after she was discovered asleep in the hallway of the Warwick Building apartments in Davenport.

A caller told dispatchers he became suspicious after four individuals drove a pickup truck in the vicinity of Fisher Road East, north of Reardan, and explained they had recently purchased property on which they planned to build a church.

A Davenport man was reportedly involved in a scam connected with a purchase of $2,000 worth of gift cards and someone claiming to need bail money.

An Almira man reported pills had been stolen or lost from a residence on Starkel Road North.

No injuries were reported after a vehicle driven by an Odessa man left U.S. 2 near Wilbur.

Deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault that occurred in the 1100 block of Ninth Street in Davenport.

A strong ammonia odor was reported in the vicinity of Crop Production Services in Harrington.

A pit bull dog reported loose in Reardan returned to its home after local police responded.

Wednesday, Sept. 23: Odessa ambulance personnel assisted a 75-year-old woman suffering back pain.

An incident of illegal dumping was reported at the Davenport fire station dumpster.

Deputies investigated a possible illegal marijuana grow in the Little Falls area north of Reardan.

Wilbur Police investigated the destruction of a garbage can in the local park. Someone jumped on it before tossing it into the creek.

Reardan Police responded to a woman’s request for assistance with an “out-of-control” child.

Thursday, Sept. 24: Wilbur ambulance personnel transported an individual from a football game in Wilbur to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.

A caller told dispatchers he detected the scent of burning maple leaves from inside the Pioneer Plaza restrooms; a responding deputy found nothing out of the ordinary.

A Davenport woman reported receiving harassing text messages.

Possibly looking for a way out, someone drove through a freshly planted winter wheat field adjacent to Alexander Road between Krupke and Addington roads near Reardan, leaving tracks that appear to be from a pickup truck.

An Odessa woman became suspicious after a caller told her she had won a lot of money and that people would be coming to her house the next day. She asked that a police officer come by, too, to make sure everything was fine.

Friday, Sept. 25: A rural Davenport resident phoned in a report that a deer had died in her barn.

A vehicle collided with a power pole adjacent to Spring Canyon Loop Road, sparking a fire.

Two Davenport women told dispatchers they had been receiving strange letters and phone calls from someone in Colorado.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 25 about nine miles north of Davenport.

Wilbur Police responded to Emerson Park where individuals attempted to sneak into a football game. They were persuaded to pay before entering.

Saturday, Sept. 26: A caller reported observing a vehicle just miss a head-on collision on U.S. 2 near Sherman Draw Road. A responding Washington State Patrol trooper caught up with the vehicle and arrested a man for driving under the influence.

A Davenport woman told deputies she believes someone has been coming into her Sinclair Street residence when she and her children are not home.

A caller reported his vehicle had been broken into while parked at the Sprague I-90 rest stop. A red duffle bag was taken, along with $200 and prescriptions.

Deputies caught up with a man observed walking down the middle of U.S. 2 near Krupke Road, east of Reardan, and appearing to jump into traffic, attempting to be hit. He was taken to Davenport to meet with family and mental health personnel.

Odessa Police investigated the theft of a woman’s billfold from a vehicle parked near the football field during a game. She called back later to advise officers she had found the wallet.

Sunday, Sept. 27: Deputies responded after a man and woman were observed trying to get their vehicle out of ditch near the intersection of Hawk Creek and Cottonwood Creek roads.

Deputies and Harrington ambulance personnel responded to a report of a vehicle that went off Harrington-Tokio Road near Larmer Road, rolled and landed on its top.

Deputies responded to a reported dispute between a woman and her son in the 400 block of Tenth Street in Davenport. A man was taken into custody for malicious mischief.

Responding to a reported domestic incident inside a vehicle heading east on U.S. 2 near Reardan, deputies placed a man into custody for allegedly hitting someone in the face.

National Park Service personnel responded to a report of illegal dumping of trash at Porcupine Bay campground.

Sept. 22: Anna Maria Bennington, 30, Davenport, arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) for second-degree criminal trespass.

Jennifer L. Shearer, 35, Davenport, confined by the court for harassment (domestic violence).

Faith Welch, 24, Reardan, arrested by LCSO for failing to appear for three counts of driving while license suspended and making a false statement to a law enforcement officer.

Sept. 23: Joshua R. Granchie, 21, Davenport, arrested by LCSO for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and interfering with a report of domestic violence.

Criminal Sentencing

Teelah Marie Gould, 25, of Wellpinit, pleaded guilty Sept. 22 to attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. Her sentence included 13 days jail (credited as served), $800 court costs, and restitution and attorney fees to be determined. The charge involved a Sept. 9 incident that began in Reardan and involved speeds of between 80 and 100 miles per hour. A Reardan patrolman caught up with the suspect vehicle at U.S. 2 and Brooks Road when it went out of control and crashed through a fence at the Deep Creek fire station.

Civil Judgments

Amey Reyes, of Davenport, must return $506.55 in overpaid benefits to the Washington State Employment Security Department.

Michelle Ginter, of Sprague, must return $312.48 in overpaid benefits to the Washington State Employment Security Department.

Mark E. Hall, of Davenport, must return $2,183.10 in overpaid benefits to the Washington State Employment Security Department.

New Criminal Cases

Aaron Arthur Dechand, 37, Edwall and/or Spokane, is charged with eluding a pursuing police vehicle, first-degree malicious mischief, reckless endangerment, third-degree theft and second-degree vehicle prowling in connection with incidents on Sept. 12 in and around Moore Road, SR 231 and Long Lake Road that began with the alleged theft of a gas can and two batteries from a 1977 International flatbed truck and developed into a 23-minute, 25-mile high-speed pursuit that concluded in Stevens County when Dechand, the alleged driver, hit spike strips, went into a ditch and fled on foot into nearby trees, stopping only after jumping over a barbed wire fence. He and a female passenger were apprehended and taken to the Lincoln County Jail. Between phases of the chase, after his patrol car had almost been rammed, the pursuing deputy ordered the suspect from his vehicle with his service weapon drawn, but the vehicle managed to speed away from the vicinity of Long Lake Dam, taking out a gate that remained lodged underneath the vehicle until the pursuit concluded. About $3,230 damage was reported.

Tyler F. Wilson, 29, Davenport, is charged with possession of heroin in connection with a June 10 incident during which a deputy and local ambulance personnel responded to a 911 emergency call regarding a heroin overdose.
