OH 4th seed after loss to Cusick; play Friday in Pasco

The Titans played a very good game Friday night, but it just wasn’t enough to hold back the Cusick Panthers in the post-season game to determine seeding. With the 38-32 win Cusick took home the number-three seed and Odessa-Harrington took number four.

Cusick 8 14 8 8 38

OH 8 8 16 0 32

Coming on the heels of a tough loss to Almira/Coulee-Hartline last week, the Titans played with a lot of heart, and the game see-sawed back and forth. All season long the Titans have been able to make the right plays at the right time, but in this game they were unable to capitalize on some scoring opportunities when they were needed, while Cusick managed to do just that.

Sage Elder scored the first two touchdowns of the game, one in the first quarter on a 30-yard pass from Hunt, followed by Gavin Elder running in the two-point conversion, and the other in the second quarter on a 10-yard pass from Hunt with Dylan Shockley catching the pass from Hunt for the extra points. Shockley then scored for the Titans in the third quarter on a 15-yard pass from Hunt, with S. Elder catching Hunt’s pass to score the extra points. S. Elder then ran the ball for 76 yards, scoring a TD and then running in the extra two points. The Titans did not score during the fourth quarter.

S. Elder ran for 200 yards on 24 carries. He had one rushing TD and two TD receptions. On defense he had 10 tackles.

John DeWulf blocked well and played good defense, leading the team in tackles with a total of 12. More importantly he was the emotional leader of the game making sure everyone continued to play hard and keep their spirits up.

Dylan Shockley scored a TD reception and with the two point conversion put the Titans ahead until Cusick scored in the fourth quarter. On defense he had four tackles.

Colby Sooy had a great night on defense with a season high total of nine tackles.

Caleb Behrens had eight tackles, Gaven Elder six, Colton Hunt and Patrick Valverde five each, Cole Kissler three and Wyatt Haase one.

The next game for the Titans is against Liberty Christian where they will have the challenge of slowing down John Lesser. Lesser is the nation’s leading rusher who has already rushed for over 3,000 yards this year. That game will be at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco starting at 6 p.m. Friday, November 13.
