Marlin and Odessa shooters do well

The eight-week season for the trapshooting teams participating in the Spokesman-Review Inland Northwest Trapshoot contest concluded on March 6. The Marlin-Odessa Gun Club combined men’s team captured third place in the Division I standings, with a final score of 792 (out of 800). In first place was the Yakima Valley Sportsmen team with 797 and in second place was the Colton Gun Club with 796.

The Marlin-Odessa women’s team was in sixth place with a score of 639 behind Hauser Lake Gun Club (724), Garfield-St. John (704), Malden Pine City (676), Colton (672) and Pomeroy Gun Club (661).

The Marlin-Odessa youth team came in second with 716, outdone only by Ft. Colville with 759.

On March 6, no one at the Odessa Gun Club shot a perfect 25. Shooting 24 were Ryan Lewis, Brady Gies, William Mann and Landon Lobe.

Jon Fink and Traig Weishaar shot 23, and Trevor Smith shot 22. Jared Praetorius, Deanna Lobe and Josh Houck all shot 21.

Those with 20 and under were Brian Wraspir, Markham Nichols, Mike Nichols Jr., Collette Nichols, Mike Nichols Sr., Garrett Braun, Steven Braun, Aaron Gies, Bill Weber, Rod Herron, Rick Hedreen, Pilot Weishaar, Daeton Deife, Deric Schmeirer, Alexis Schmierer, Colley Walter, Dalles Deife, Jenny Larmer, Cody Larmer, Brandon Larmer, HaLee Walter and Tucker Walter.

High Handicap shooter was Aaron Gies. Miss-n-Out winner was Brady Gies. Annie Oakley winner was Trevor Smith. Bushwacker award went to Brady Gies. The 5 from 40 winner was Colley Walter. Buddy shoot winners were Cody Larmer and Ryan Lewis.

The overall season results for Odessa trapshooters by category were: AA, Traig Weishaar; A, Jon Fink; B, William Mann; C, Aaron Gies; D, Brian Wraspir; E, Cody Larmer; Ladies, Deanna Lobe; Junior, Lane Lobe; Sub-Junior, Pilot Weishaar; Handicap, Brady Gies; High Overall, Brady Gies.

Overall results for Marlin were: A, Mark Iksic 189 (along with three others) and Dave Asker 186; B, Dave Pelham 174; C, Brent Finkbeiner 155; D, Juan Rocha 166; Ladies, Carmen Eckhart 173; Juniors, Cody Follett 172; Sub-juniors, Taeven Brashear 167; Veterans, Mark Edwins 183; Senior Veterans, Doug Brashear 173.
