Titans beat Colton 3-2, fall to Pomeroy 5-1

Colton

The Titans defeated Colton this past Saturday, May 20, at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla by a score of 3-2. Chance Messer was the starting pitcher, striking out seven batters in the win.

Beginning at 10 a.m., the Titans were behind by one until the fifth inning when their bats woke up for all of O-H’s runs.

Josh Clark, Camden Weber and Marcus King each got multiple hits in contributing to the nine hits for the Titans in the game. Messer and Jayd Jennings also each drove in a run.

Pomeroy

That same afternoon, the Titans faced off against Pomeroy, a team that had already beaten them once during the regional playoffs. Camden Weber was the starting pitcher, relieved by Theron Schlomer in the sixth inning.

The Titans never got their offense going and remained behind from the second inning on.

The loss eliminates the Titans from the state tournament. Pomeroy will face off against Almira/Coulee-Hartline next Saturday, May 27, at Wheeler Field in Centralia for the state 1B title.

The Titan team can look forward to another good year next season, since it is losing only Chance Messer to graduation. Fellow senior Brad Johnston did not play this year due to recovering from shoulder surgery.
