Andrew (Andy) Bartkowski

Feb. 26, 1947 – March 2023

Andrew Bartkowski, a veteran of Vietnam, a longtime resident of Seven Bays, Wash., and formerly of Battle Ground, Wash., quietly passed away on March 13, 2023 at the Spokane Veterans Home, Spokane, WA. Andy as he was known to many was born on Feb. 26, 1947 to Pete and Jean Bartkowski in Littlefork, Minn. He grew up in Camas, Wash. and Hockinson, Wash. and graduated from Battle Ground High School before being drafted into the U.S. Army.

Andy married Darle DelGrosso on Dec. 22, 1966. After Andy was wounded by a land mine in Vietnam, the U.S. Army recognized Andy for his honorable service with a Purple Heart and he was discharged in Aug. of 1968.

After returning from the war, Andy and Darle settled in Battle Ground, Wash. and adopted their daughter, Trisha from Vietnam and son, Pete from Thailand.

Andy enjoyed traveling and camping in his RV, fishing, raising tropical fish, woodworking, flowers, putting together model tanks, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Darle; children, Trisha and Pete: siblings, Lori, Frank, and Vicki; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Pete; mother, Jean; brother, Bruce; nephew, Blake; and numerous extended family members.

A chapel funeral service will be held on April 1, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 N.E. 112th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98684. There will be a graveside memorial at 1:30 p.m. and a reception immediately following from 2:00 p.m. – 3 p.m.
