Lincoln County Museum re-opens in May

On March 5 at the Lincoln County Museum, some volunteers were surprised with a free chicken lunch from Davenport Family Foods delivered by owner Kevin Hansen. He found out that some volunteers have been working every week at the Lincoln County Museum since last fall and he wanted to show his support. Some volunteers had just left but volunteers that came in the next day were able to enjoy the lunch too.

Recently volunteers are at the museum three days a week for different reasons. One day is spent preparing two historical photo displays; one of Davenport and one of towns that are or have been in Lincoln County.

Another day is spent preparing the museum for opening day on May 1 by primarily preparing a brand new exhibition room called "The Workshop." The large room has been a storage area for many years so everything had to be moved out then the vision for the room could begin to come to fruition.

One more day is for accessioning items that have been donated to the museum. It is a long process to enter new items into the database along with detailed descriptions and photos.

Some volunteers come in on various days to do research while those on the Facilities Committee whenever they can find the time.
