Marilyn Lynette Fink

Feb. 23,1933- Mar. 14, 2024

Marilyn Lynette Fink's life began, and ended, in her beloved town of Odessa, Wash. She was born Feb. 23,1933 to parents Mary and Ed Salo. On Mar. 14, 2024 her prayers were answered, and she left for Heaven at the age of 91.

Marilyn grew up with her brother Gale and parents in their home on Main Street in Odessa.

Although quiet by nature, Marilyn managed to make many friends throughout all her school years. During this time, there were adventures with Girl Scouts and many slumber parties captured in depth by photos. Marilyn's friends were loyal and supportive throughout her lifetime! In High School a "man of interest" entered her life. This man, Marvin Fink, won her heart. Marilyn graduated from High School with Valedictorian honors. She went on to attend Pacific Lutheran University, (where Marvin just happened to also study!) and they ended up marrying back in Odessa on Mar. 29th, 1952.

Marvin and Marilyn finally made a plot of land, Southwest of Odessa, their "farm homestead" after Marvin had completed his military service.

Marilyn kept life simple. If three words summed up her life, they would be Faith, Family, and Friends. Marilyn ran a wheat farm household which included raising three children, sewing, cooking, canning fruit, gardening, leading 4-H, butchering chickens, making sausage, and volunteering at Christ Lutheran Church. She especially loved making apple strudel at church for the annual Odessa Deutschesfest.

After her kids were launched, Marvin decided to build their next home on a pile of rocks overlooking Odessa! It took some blasting to build this place, but Marilyn loved the views of town from here, just as she loved the sunsets and wheat fields of the farm. Many family gatherings and bridge clubs were hosted here.

In retirement Marilyn traveled with Marvin in their Holiday Rambler to trailer rallies, as well as spending some winters in their Ariz. home. Fun trips with family were to Christina Lake in Canada, Cannon Beach, and Hawaii.

Marilyn's final home was at Quail Court Assisted Living in Odessa. During her time there we are pretty sure she achieved the title of Scrubbie Queen!

Being able to have our Mom die in the town she cherished and the wheat fields she loved was a blessing. Marilyn died like she lived-a gentle and loving soul, slipping quietly away.

Marilyn was preceded in death by Marvin(husband), Megan Fink(granddaughter), and parents Mary and Ed Salo. She is survived by her brother Gale Salo(Peggy), her children Neil Fink(Lecia), Diane Floyd(Kim),and MaryBeth Mitchell(Jerry). She also leaves on earth six grandchildren and eleven great grand-children.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 12th, 2024 at 11:00am Christ Lutheran Church, 602 Amende St. in Odessa, Washington.

In honor of Marilyn, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church (PO Box 400, Odessa WA 99159), or Odessa Healthcare Foundation (PO Box 368, Odessa WA 99159).
