Youths flock to Spring Showcase

Showcase winners shared

DAVENPORT -Prospective showmen and showwomen from around the Pacific Northwest were at the Fairgrounds last Saturday, April 13 for the second annual Spring Showcase.

Hosted by WSU Extension, the Showcase is meant as a precursor to the Junior Livestock Show of Spokane in May.

146 exhibitors showed off their prize swine, beef, goats and sheep. Here are all the weekend winners, as shared by Fairgrounds manager Dawn Canfield.

Market winners

Kyle Taylor of Hayden won overall champion for beef, while Landon Williams of Ritzville was reserve champion.

Jacob Mikesh of Redmond, Oregon won overall champion for goats, while Hayden Johnsen of Spirit Lake was reserve champion.

Lexi Amundson of Ferndale was overall champion for sheep, while Lillian Waldher of Athena, Oregon was reserve champion.

Amelia Ray of Reardan was overall champion for swine, while Cade Wolf of Colton was reserve champion.

149 total animals were shown in the market show.

Breeding show winners

Taylor won overall champion for heifers, while Kami Williams of Sandpoint was reserve champion.

Amundson was overall champion for market goats, while Mikesh was reserve champion.

Layla Deeds of Hayden Lake was overall champion for breeding ewes, while Amundson was reserve champion.

And Grant Waldher of Athena, Oregon was overall and reserve champion for breeding gilts.

91 total animals were shown in the breeding show.

Showmanship

Taylor won 4-H beef champion, while Kami Williams was reserve champion.

Alyssa Williams of Ritzville won FFA beef champion, while Katy Belles of Spangle was reserve champion.

Mikesh was 4-H champion for goats, while Amundson was reserve champion.

McKenna Knott of Moscow, Idaho was FFA champion for goats, while Regan Reedy of Elk was reserve champion.

Lillian Walder was 4-H champion for sheep, while Vincent Bass of Troy, Idaho was reserve champion.

Kassidy Wilfong of Chelan was FFA champion for sheep, while Lacey Jacobsen of Colbert was reserve champion.

And Ramsey Davis of Kennewick was FFA champion for swine, while Ray was reserve champion.

152 total animals were shown in the Showmanship portion.
