Miss Harrington crowned

Third Crawford sister to wear the crown

HARRINGTON - Joining the legacy left by her two older sisters, local junior Samantha Crawford was crowned Miss Harrington 2024 in a coronation ceremony Sunday, April 14.

Crawford, 16, is the third member of her family to wear the Miss Harrington crown. Older sisters Lexi Crawford and Allie Crawford also wore the titles in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

"It's really cool," Samantha Crawford said. "It shows that the Crawfords are a part of the town."

Samantha Crawford is the first Miss Harrington since Allie Crawford's reign, as no one applied for the title last year.

Crawford was this year's lone applicant in the program facilitated by the Harrington Homemakers.

She was put through an application process that included questions about her family and activity involvement. Crawford is involved in FBLA and ASB at Harrington High School.

"I hope to learn more and become more confident in myself," Crawford said of wearing the Miss Harrington crown. "I hope to become more social and make a ton more friends than I have now."

Crawford said her first public appearance as Miss Harrington will likely be at the Harrington Car Show Saturday, May 18. Miss Harrington also typically represents the city at community events like the local Fall Festival, Davenport's Pioneer Days, Odessa Deutschesfest and Reardan Mule Days.
