    The women in the “Chicks with Sticks” league continue to play some great games of golf. The side games for week #5 involved rolling a die with the amount rolled taken off the total score. Winning that game were the Golden Girls: Joyce Kuest, Myrna Wolsborn, Apryl Wraspir and Judy Scrupps. Side games for week #6 will be on hole 7, where the women must land on the green with their drive....

    The women’s golf league “Chicks with Sticks” started another season with a kick-off dinner at the Odessa Golf & RV club house June 20. Week two saw two teams, the Ball Wackers (consisting of Deanna Smith, Barbara Walter and Tracy Walter) tie with the Ball Bashin’ Gals (made up of Chris Crossley, Mo Sheldon, Janie Steward and Jax Allen) for the best drive from the men’s tee box on hole number seven.     The women’s golf league had another push with seven teams tying, so the money will be used in next week’s games. Suzie Deife, the coordinator for Chicks with Sticks, said all the teams are doing fantastic with no scores in the 60s and tons of scores at par or in the 30s. There are three more weeks of play before the final awards dinner....

  • A Baltic Sea graduation trip for grandsons

    Recently, Kami and Garret Braun, Kara, Jenaka and Gunnar Nelson and I enjoyed a cruise on the Baltic Sea, where we visited seven countries. The trip was a high school graduation present for my grandsons, Garret and Gunnar. The group landed in Copenhagen, Denmark and visited the Tivoli Gardens where we were surprised by how many people rode bicycles. There are lanes set aside for the bikers with hundreds of people pedaling by. They walked down to the canals and saw the Church of our Saviour with its corkscrew spire. We...
