    Odessa Schools Superintendent The administration and school board are committed to having an agriculture education program in Odessa that meets the needs of our students now and for their future. The biggest issue that we are trying to solve is to find a traditionally certified agriculture education teacher. We will continue to look for a teacher but are not optimistic about our chances.     Recently I had to make a decision that I didn’t want to make. I knew the decision to never have a school-sponsored bonfire again would be very unpopular. Previously, our insurance company warned schools about this type of event, which has a very high risk for injury and property damage. We continued to have bonfires anyway, assuming we could do it safely. With all of the adults who participate in the event, we felt it was a tradition we did not want to alter.     The Odessa School District staff committed to having Great Expectations for students and each other during the 2012-2013 school year. This commitment produced amazing results in what students learned, how they behaved, and what they accomplished. As the 2013-2014 school year begins, we are committing ourselves to go Beyond Great Expectations. We are committing ourselves to making sure every student is given every chance to be successful.     Students, parents, staff and the community have worked hard together to produce a wonderful school year. I want to wish everyone a great summer full of fun and relaxation.
