    On May 7, seven other Bi-County schools joined Odessa for the Fourth Annual Bi-County STEM Challenge.     Lincoln County Sheriff Wade Magers has reported that deputies from Whitman County recovered stolen property in a large-scale operation after receiving a tip. Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myer and Magers worked together with their respective agencies to solve crimes that had affected numerous counties, including Lincoln County.     Terri King and Maria Schuh were surprised at a recent presentation from CenturyLink representative Kerry Zimmerman to learn they were the recipients of a CenturyLink grant in the amount of $3,944.     Jack Birchard died May 3, 2014, at Cottage in the Meadows in Yakima, surrounded by family and friends. His life of 91 years provided much joy and happiness. He was born April 23, 1923, to Frank and Rose Birchard in Shawnee, Wyo. and spent his childhood in Wyoming before moving to Eugene, Ore., where he met Shirley Glasgow. They married in August of 1946.     Kyle Foreman, Public Information Officer for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office in Ephrata, reported that a body found Monday morning, May 19, in an irrigation canal above Summer Falls Dam is believed to be that of Scott Kolves of Ephrata who went missing and was presumed drowned during a March 29 accident.     Odessa Historical Society members Pat Gies, Scott Heimbigner, Joe Wollman, and Paul Scheller last week completed the landscaping around St. Matthew’s Church, placing decorative rock with the help of Don Strebeck and his skid loader. This action finishes the refurbishment of the church which was repainted and received a new steel roof by Diamond Construction last year.
