GOT PINK? team, Chiefs, Coffee Haus join for cause

Chiefs Bar and Grill was the site of the first annual Chiefs Fiesta Buffet for the Cure, Tuesday, March 29.

The buffet included beef and chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, chips and salsa, refried beans, Mexican rice and various desserts.

Members of Odessa’s TEAM GOT PINK? for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 2011 waited tables and cleaned up.

According to Chiefs co-owner Sherri Frederick, over 80 people were served at the buffet, which was intended to raise money for the Race for the Cure.

Frederick said that she and Wendy Meise of Crab Creek Coffee Haus worked together on the food prep. TEAM GOT PINK? provided more volunteers than there were jobs.

The event raised nearly $500, which consisted of tips for the volunteer staff, a percentage of the meal price and some donations.

Frederick said that “the place was packed,” and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
