Louis J. Pavliska

Louis J. Pavliska, age 95, died in Spokane Valley April 3, 2011. His home was in Odessa.

Louis was born, the eldest of four children, to Joseph and Anna (Trejbal) Pavliska on April 22, 1915 in Dubois, Idaho. He attended school in Odessa and graduated high school in 1933. In 1935, he took over the family farm and continued to operate it for 45 years until retirement in 1980.

In 1941, he married his sweetheart, Elsie E. (Kissler) Pavliska and in 1944, a son Galen J. Pavliska, was born. In 1958, Elsie passed away. In 1962, he married Florence I. (Dobson) Pavliska, who passed away in 2006.

Louis enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Odessa Grange. While living in Odessa, he became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. After moving to Spokane Valley, he attended St. Paschal Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Galen and Anne (O'Dea) Pavliska of Spokane Valley; three granddaughters: Cindy A. (Pavliska) Simmons, Kristy E. (Pavliska) and Craig R. Schwendeman, and Trisha L. (Pavliska) and John T. Cain; six grandchildren: Jacob J. Cain, Colin C. Cain, Alex T. Schwendeman, Joey R. Schwendeman, Connor P. Cain, and Abby E. Schwendeman; his sister, Elizabeth Kruse of Spokane; one brother-in-law, Karl Kissler of Spokane Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Trejbal) Pavliska, first wife, Elsie (Kissler) Pavliska, second wife, Florence (Dobson) Pavliska, and his two sisters, Anna (Pavliska) Bennett and Josephine (Pavliska) Mackintosh.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa, with Father Roy Floch officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Odessa, WA 99159, St. Paschal Catholic Church, P.O. Box 11128, Spokane Valley, WA 99211 or to the donor's personal charity of choice. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is attending to funeral arrangements.
