Lincoln County improvements in 2012

Greetings from the Courthouse!

I thought that I would bring everyone up to date on some of the accomplishments that Lincoln County achieved in 2012.

One of the biggest projects was the county-wide Narrow Band Radio Project. The federal government issued a mandate that all two-way radio licensees convert from a wide-band signal to a narrow-band signal by January 1, 2013. This affected the Sheriff's Office, Public Works Department, all of the Fire/EMS agencies and LCOMM. A Combiner System was installed on Magnuson Butte to enhance reception and reduce interference between all three radio users. All of these entities came to the table and worked together for the benefit of the tax payers in Lincoln County. We now have better emergency communications as a result. Congratulations to all of those who worked so hard to make this happen!

On the Public Works side of things, the north end of the Miles-Creston project was completed this year. Halme Construction was the contractor for the project, but our Public Works crew did an excellent job providing all of the preliminary and construction engineering as well as most of the paving work. If you haven't driven the road lately you will be pleasantly surprised how nice it is, especially the grade.

Major raod improvements were also done to Hanson Harbor, McInnis and Kupers roads. In addition to normal maintenance, 30 miles of road were chip sealed and 44 were crack patched.
