USDA to continue summer food program for children

The Odessa School District announces the sponsorship of the Simplified Summer Food Program for Children. Meals will be made available at no charge to attending children 18 years of age and younger.

In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Meals will be served at the following: Odessa School Cafeteria, 311 S. 1st St. June 10-August 16. Breakfast: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Nancy Glines, 982-2668.

Reiman Park, 210 E. Roy. June 10 to August 16. Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Nancy Glines, 982-2668.

USDA feels the need to provide meals during summer as the Free & Reduced lunches are running at 50% here in Odessa, and the decision was made not to stigmatize children in that program, so will provide breakfast and lunch to all who come.

This is a 3-year grant through the USDA which may not continue unless there is good participation.
