Obituary

Debra A. (Frederick) Praetorius

Debbie Praetorius died peacefully at her home on February 26, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born August 4, 1958 in Millington, Tenn. to Louis Wayne and Violet Mae Frederick. The family moved to Odessa in the summer of 1971, where Debbie attended school, graduating in 1977. She then went on to Big Bend Community College where she received her Secretarial Science degree.

She married Lee Praetorius June 14, 1981. They lived in Odessa, farmed and raised a family. She was employed at Leffel, Otis and Warwick for many years.

Debra was a member of the Odessa VFW Ladies Auxiliary, former Ducks Unlimited, Odessa Alumni Association and "The HAGS." She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, the ocean and beach, boating, camping, bowling, kayaking, river rafting and her dog Aussie. She played for the Odessa women's softball team for 30 years.

She enjoyed attending the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with her team "GOT PINK?".

Debra is survived by her husband, Lee Praetorius; two children, Britney (Lance) Wagner and Cody Praetorius; her father, Wayne Frederick; her three brothers, Michael (Sherri) Frederick, Dennis (Polly) Frederick and David (Brenda) Frederick and her sister, Teresa Wheeler; her nieces and nephews Jolene (Andy) Keith, Josh (Kathy) Frederick, Natasha (Justin) Parr, Whitney (Kory) Kolterman, Jordan Frederick, Elexa (Andrew) Record, Kaitlyn Wheeler, Morgan Frederick, Krystin Robbins, Erin and Spencer Ballo and six great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Violet Frederick.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Odessa Cemetery. A memorial service followed at the Heritage Church in Odessa with Pastor Jon Hayashi officiating.
