Lydia Knoell

God’s hands took another angel home on October 12, 2014. Lydia was born March 19, 1909, in Teplitz, a German settlement near the Black Sea in Russia. After marrying Jakob Knoell in 1940, their entire village was relocated to Germany and they worked on a state-run farm. In 1945, after her husband was captured and spent nearly five years in various labor camps in Western Russia, she became a refugee, supporting herself and her young daughter by whatever means she could. After they were reunited in 1949, Jakob, Lydia, and their daughter immigrated to the United States, arriving in Odessa in 1952....
