Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Jan. 12: Christian Heritage School personnel reported that someone took about $100 worth of fuel from at least two school vehicles parked on the grounds in Edwall.

Lincoln Hospital personnel requested assistance with a woman in her late 60s who reportedly made threats to shoot staff members there.

Women in Creston and Davenport reported receiving “strange” messages from the same man on Facebook.

A fire pit was reported stolen from property adjacent to SR 25 north of Davenport.

Lincoln County deputies assisted their counterparts from Ferry County and Republic Police in their search for a Republic man who had been missing for 24 hours. He eventually was found north of Keller.

Tuesday, Jan. 13: Sprague School District conducted a drill that included a lockdown scenario.

Harrington ambulance personnel assisted when a local man in his 90s was found unresponsive on the floor of a residence in the 100 block of Alice Street.

A man living north of Reardan reported damage had been done to a personal road sign at the intersection of Rebel Ridge Lane East and SR 231.

Two Davenport residents reported threatening text messages had been sent to them.

Dispatchers were advised that two men had hit wild turkeys with their vehicle and drove off with them, leaving car parts strewn on the roadway in the vicinity of SR 25 and Porcupine Bay Road.

A vehicle reportedly was being driven recklessly and ran cars off the road in the vicinity of U.S. 2 and Tramm Road east of Reardan. A deputy stopped the suspect vehicle near Oehlwein Road east of Davenport.

Odessa Police responded to a reported hit-and-run collision near the high school. About $200 damage was reported.

Wednesday, Jan. 14: A collision involving a truck and deer was reported on SR 21 near Wilbur.

A Harrington woman reported three horses missing; they were found later in the day.

Emergency personnel from Reardan and Davenport assisted an 8-year-old Reardan boy who was experiencing a high fever.

A man looking for odd jobs in the Sprague area while en route to Spokane “spooked” some cats and their owner at a residence on Sprague Highway Road East.

A deputy’s assistance was requested in a dispute between a Davenport woman and her husband over contents of a motor home.

Dispatchers took a report concerning the theft of cut logs on property adjacent to Justa Lane North in the Hawk Creek area north of Davenport.

Deputies and Reardan Police responded to a report that two brothers, ages 16 and 18, were involved in a physical altercation in the 100 block of East Railroad Avenue in Reardan. The younger boy was removed to the Martin Hall juvenile facility in Medical Lake on a domestic violence charge.

Thursday, Jan. 15: Ambulance personnel from Almira and Wilbur responded to a one-vehicle rollover collision at Old Coulee and Kramer roads. An occupant reportedly suffered a rib injury and was taken to Coulee Community Hospital.

Residents of Davenport and Reardan told dispatchers of continuous calls they received from “a foreign person” that claims to be starting an IRS investigation.

A vehicle was reported in the ditch off U.S. 2 near Reardan.

A deputy responded to Davenport Middle School for juveniles reportedly in possession of dangerous weapons.

An Edwall caller told dispatchers he believed he was getting death threats through the television while watching “The Price is Right.”

The odor of rotten eggs noticed at Fifth and Maxwell streets in Davenport turned out to be an indication that a slight natural gas leak had taken place.

Friday, Jan. 16: Weather conditions forced a two-hour late start in the Davenport School District.

A caller reported receiving scam phone calls from “the Department of Legal Investigation” advising he was under investigation.

Responding to a residence on Watson Road East, Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a 73-year-old woman having trouble breathing.

Foggy conditions contributed to a collision involving a vehicle and deer on U.S. 2 near Reardan.

Deputies, assisted by Wellpinit emergency personnel, were engaged in a search for a Reardan man who phoned dispatchers to report he had put his vehicle in a ditch, but didn’t provide a specific location. After getting information from the man’s girlfriend and father, Wellpinit officers eventually found his unoccupied vehicle in the vicinity of Wynecoop and Cayuse roads – and later, the man was taken to Wellpinit for a medical examination.

Vehicle slide-offs were reported on U.S. 2 near Oehlwein Road east of Davenport.

Corrections deputies discovered a computer tablet with pornographic images in the possession of an inmate in the jail.

Deputies investigated a possible credit card fraud incident in the Grand Coulee area.

A Davenport caller reported damage to a fence in the 600 block of Main Street and chairs that had been knocked over. Footprints in the snow led to a gas meter, leading investigators to believe an Avista Utilities employee may be involved.

Deputies responded to a report of individuals apparently involved in a large coyote derby hunt found trespassing in a farmer’s field bordered by Kramer Farms, Knapp and Rogers roads south of Harrington.

Odessa Police investigated a possible credit card fraud incident that may have adversely affected the local hospital’s account.

Saturday, Jan. 17: Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a 60-year-old man with cancer who was found dehydrated and weak in the 400 block of West 3rd.

A vehicle was reported in the ditch off U.S. 2 and Coulee Hite Road. Elsewhere, a one-vehicle rollover collision took place near the intersection of SR 21 and 174 at Wilbur.

A caller advised dispatchers that six inches of “slush and slop” were on the roadway on SR 25 about two to seven miles north of Davenport.

Deputies investigated a possible domestic violence incident at a residence on North River Drive in the Davenport area.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers that she had been verbally harassed by a youngster and later, his mother by phone, while she was walking to a downtown store.

Deputies assisted after receiving a report that a 97-year-old Serene Meadows resident had died.

An ambulance was sent to the scene of a one-vehicle rollover collision on SR 174 near its intersection with SR 21. The driver was taken to Coulee Community Hospital to be examined. The still-running vehicle landed on its top and couldn’t be immediately shut off.

Responding to the high school gym, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 16-year-old Tekoa-Rosalia girls’ basketball player who may have suffered a concussion when she tripped over a Davenport player and fell hard on the court.

Slick road conditions resulted in several vehicles sliding into guardrails along Little Falls Road north of Reardan.

Sunday, Jan. 18: Davenport ambulance personnel transported a 75-year-old man to Lincoln Hospital after he was experiencing breathing difficulties.

Slushy snow made Miles Creston Road on the Hawk Creek grade “almost impassable,” according to a caller’s report. Mud was reported in the northbound lane of SR 23 near Harrington and authorities also closed Kupers Road between Coffeepot and Duck Lake roads.

Steven Stone, 28, of Benge, Wash., is charged with third-degree assault and resisting arrest after being stopped by a Washington State Patrol trooper on I-90 near the Fish Trap exit. He is alleged to have kicked the officer in the leg and shoulder and refused to follow his instructions.
