Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, April 6: Deputies checked out what appeared to a caller to be an attempt to gain access to the Lightning Nuggets building at Sixth and Logan streets in Davenport.

A Davenport woman reported harassing phone calls intended for her 13-year-old daughter.

A Reardan area man told dispatchers that a firearm was stolen from his vehicle.

A possible fire was reported in the vicinity of Haden Road near Sherman Draw in the Wilbur area.

A caller from Wilbur reported his belongings had been placed outside his residence after he had served divorce papers.

A pickup truck with Utah license plates was discovered abandoned in a field adjacent to U.S. 2 about a mile east of Reardan.

Tuesday, April 7: A county jail inmate was placed into an observation cell after making what corrections deputies considered “suicidal statements.”

Cash was taken during a burglary at the Corner Café in Creston. Entry appeared to be made through air ducts in the building.

A Reardan woman filed a report of harassment after receiving several “nasty” emails.

Reardan Police investigated a burglary at a java stand and possibly an adjacent building at 250 Broadway (U.S. 2). It appeared a garbage can was used to break the java stand’s side window to gain entry.

Wednesday, April 8: A “confused” patient at Lincoln Hospital was reported missing from the premises for a time before personnel were able to locate her and return her to her room.

A Sprague man reported his vehicle had been keyed and damaged while parked in the 300 block of West 5th.

An occupant of a vehicle involved in a two-car collision on SR 2 near Reardan was transported to a hospital for head injuries. EMTs from Reardan and Edwall, along with Davenport ambulance personnel, joined responding deputies and the Washington State Patrol at the scene.

A “suspicious” black Chevrolet sedan “filled with trash” was observed on county roads and a private road near Wilbur.

A Davenport woman reported the theft of nearly 100 units of prescribed medication from a residence in the 500 block of Ross Street.

A man with apparent Saudi Arabian roots driving a vehicle with California plates went off I-90 near Sprague after being observed traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Placed into a deputy’s patrol car, the man was described as “uncooperative” and allegedly damaged the patrol vehicle and, once arriving at the jail in Davenport, reportedly destroyed a chair, smashing it against a wall into several sharp pieces. Later, the man tore his shirt, made a headband from it, tied his pants around his head like a cape, set up a mattress against a wall and began shadowboxing and martial arts kicks into it. Calls for assistance were placed to the Saudi Arabian consulate in Los Angeles, Calif., and to the U.S. State Department. On the following day, he continued to be “combative and aggressive” with staff and was restrained. By Friday, Eastern Washington University campus police had cited him for assault, delivered a cancelled, admission letter and informed him he was no longer welcome on campus. Local authorities also heard from the U.S. Border Patrol concerning the inmate’s status. By Saturday, he had posted bail and was released into the custody of the consulate.

Goats were reported loose on U.S. 2 near the Telford rest area.

A Wilbur woman requested police assistance to get her car keys returned.

Thursday, April 9: A horse was reported loose on SR 25 near Porcupine Bay campground.

A man reported his discovery of trash that “stinks” dumped on his property adjacent to Forest Drive East near Reardan.

A state Department of Transportation light pole was knocked over as a result of a one-vehicle collision on U.S. 2 near its intersection with SR 231 about a mile west of Reardan. EMTs from there joined Davenport ambulance personnel and deputies at the scene.

Sheep were reported on U.S. 2 at Krupke Road east of Reardan.

A Harrington woman reported receiving two phone calls notifying her she had won a car and cash, but heard profanity from both male callers after declining to accept her prizes and provide personal information.

A Sprague woman told dispatchers she received two fraudulent calls requesting $8,600 to cover a relative’s jail bail.

Someone attempted to force his way into a residence adjacent to U.S. 2 west of Davenport.

A woman was taken into custody after deputies responded to a domestic assault report originating from the 300 block of Maxwell Street in Davenport.

Firearms were reported stolen from a residence on Badger Road North in the Reardan area.

Deputies investigated a report from Wilbur that a Willows Motel occupant had registered under one name but paid for the room with a check bearing another name.

Friday, April 10: Copper wire was reported stolen from the Verizon cell tower site on Mcabee Road near Sprague, resulting in a $2,000 repair project for company personnel.

A vehicle was observed passing others on U.S. 2 near the SpokaneCounty line while violating double yellow lines at blind spots. A caller reported three vehicles almost were run off the roadway as a result. Stopped by a deputy at Virgil Road, the offending driver explained that a vehicle he attempted to pass increased its speed.

A local mother’s concern was abated when her missing daughter was located at a friend’s house in rural Davenport.

A motorist told dispatchers that another vehicle directly behind him on U.S. 2 near its intersection with SR 231 was “hugging (his) bumper,” its driver preferring to stay about a foot away and not pass.

Saturday, April 11: A county inmate used an emergency-only intercom to “sarcastically” inform corrections deputies “how much he loves it in jail.”

A cougar was observed outside the Odessa municipal limits south of the local hospital.

Three loose dogs reportedly attacked a resident’s cat in the 900 block of Washington Street in Davenport. The dogs’ owners were cited for allowing their animals to run at-large.

A semi-truck and trailer traveling at about 75 mph just west of Reardan on U.S. 2 was observed passing against double yellow lines and oncoming traffic.

Deputies investigated the theft of “Elliott Motors” signage after employees had removed it from the Davenport business.

Damage was reported to a power pole near Mohler after a vehicle apparently collided with it. Having heard from a passer-by about a possibly intoxicated and confused driver and a vehicle with door damage, deployed airbags and a flat tire, responding deputies eventually located the driver in Odessa and issued a citation for hit-and-run.

A man who appeared to be missing for a time in the Marlin area was eventually located and explained he had had vehicle issues.

Deputies responded to another dispute between neighbors over access to property using Johns Rocky Way Road.

A deputy reported knocking the passenger side mirror from his patrol vehicle that had sideswiped a post on the side of the roadway at Johns Rocky Way and Hawk Creek roads.

Odessa Memorial Hospital personnel requested police assistance with an intoxicated man who had been transported by ambulance from the Stumpjumpers site, where he allegedly wandered from tent to tent looking for family and friends.

Sunday, April 12: A pickup truck was reportedly speeding up and down Coal Creek Road in the Harrington area.

A pickup truck was reported stolen from the beer tent at the Odessa Stumpjumpers event. Someone apparently took the vehicle while band members left it running while loading equipment.

Odessa ambulance personnel assisted an unconscious woman at the Stumpjumpers beer tent near Odessa.

Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a man who was slumped over inside a running vehicle left in the park position outside a Main Street business.

A citation was issued to their owners after deputies responded to a report of a black dog and two smaller brown dogs running loose in the 900 block of Washington Street in Davenport.

A vehicle was observed traveling at high speeds and passing another vehicle while going over the Harrington railroad tracks before sliding around a corner and heading south on Coal Coulee Road.

Wilbur Police investigated a report that a Rottweiler or pit bull dog chased children into a residence in the 800 block of SE Regent.

Civil Judgments

Carl O. and Amber L. Gronlund, doing business as Carl’s Tire in Wilbur, must pay $934.33 in taxes owed from September through December of last year to the Washington State Department of Revenue.

Douglas E. and Robin L. Nachtigal, doing business as Let Er Brew in Davenport, must pay $2,246.46 in taxes owed from September 2014 through January 2015 to the Washington State Department of Revenue.

New Criminal Cases

Jodi L. Bankston and Wilburt Allen Bankston II, both of Davenport, are charged with theft of rental, leased, lease-purchased or loaned property in connection with unpaid rent of $17,187 on three storage sheds allegedly being used as living quarters on property on Mill Canyon Road.

Eric J. Heldstab, 35, Bonney Lake, Wash., is charged with two counts of third-degree assault in connection with an April 5 incident at LincolnHospital in Davenport during which a local physician and nurse were kicked and punched, respectively, in the chest.

New Civil Cases

Filing a petition for foreclosure on a deed of trust, Nationstar Mortgage LLC alleges the heirs and devisees of June Wolfrum, who died in 2010, along with Cheryl Gibboney, John T. Lanway and the State of Washington defaulted on a loan used to purchase property at 1219 Washington Street in Davenport. The petitioner claims that $126,423.48 is owed as of Jan. 30.

Alleging breach of contract, Wolfkill Feed and Fertilizer claims a $1.68 million debt through July of last year against TransMessis Columbia Plateau LLC, the operator of the former Odessa oil crushing and biodiesel plant, to which the petitioner supplied canola seed beginning in November 2013. According to the claim, payments stopped in April of last year. Also named as respondents are Damon Pistulka, Louis Soumas, Joseph Rozelle and Christopher Efird.

Filing on behalf of a 6-year-old girl, Joshua Naochi Miura, a former Creston resident, seeks a domestic violence protection order against Breanna Johns. A hearing is scheduled on April 21.

Anfisa M. Reutov, of Reardan, seeks a domestic violence protection order against Iosif Pavelovich Kasachev. Two minor children are involved in the case. A hearing is scheduled on April 21.
