Harrington teachers Taunya Stanford and LaMarr Larmer help to honor retiring school employee Karen Balfe.
On May 1, the Harrington School District held a retirement celebration for long time employee Karen Balfe who will finish 28 years of service in June. Speakers were Principal Justin Bradford, Tyson Linstrum, LaMarr Larmer and Taunya Sanford. The Harrington Education Association presented Karen with a published book from the students and staff of Harrington Schools. The Kindergarten/first-grade students sang a farewell song to Balfe. Then Sanford read a letter written to Balfe from her very special friend, Linda Colbert. Everyone celebrated by eating cupcakes donated by the PTA and a delicious cake decorated by Carolyn Mattozzi. Balfe's three children and spouses (Keith and Stephanie James, Kevin and Kathy James and Jody and James Fitzgerald) then hosted a Taco Bar celebration for all of Karen's family and friends at the Harrington Memorial Hall.
