Agnes Turner

After a long and hardy life and a brief illness, Agnes Turner passed away on January 14, 2016. Agnes was born to Frank and Marie Sis on May 10, 1914, in Rawlins County in the northwest corner of the state of Kansas. Agnes had five brothers, Frank, Anton, Charles, Joseph and Rudolph and two sisters, Mary and Anna. After graduating from Atwood High School in Atwood, Kansas, Agnes moved to the Pacific Northwest living in Sandpoint, Idaho and Walla Walla, Wash. Agnes married Thomas Turner of Dayton, Washington on November 29, 1947. The two made their home in Odessa until relocating to Dayton in 1964 where they ran a small family business. When Thomas passed away in 1976, Agnes maintained the family home until 1990 when she relocated back to Odessa to be near a daughter and grandchildren. In 2007, Agnes moved to the Alpine Ridge retirement apartments in Mt. Vernon, Wash. to be closer to her other daughter and other grandchildren. In November 2015, Agnes went to Spokane to visit a son and grandchildren on the east side of the state. It was while visiting in Spokane, Agnes passed away. Agnes remained active for most of her life and thoroughly enjoyed visits with and being around her many family members. One son, Edwin Huff of Tacoma, preceeded her in death. She is survived by daughter Phyllis Weishaar of Odessa, son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Raeleen Turner of Spokane and daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Gary Danilson of Mt. Vernon. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. As the loved and respected mother of a large, extended family, she will be missed by many. The family is planning a spring gathering to remember Agnes and celebrate her life.
