Ivan J. Groh

Ivan J. Groh passed away at the age of 62 on February 6, 2016, after struggling through a long illness that spanned seven years. Ivan was a hard-working man, farming with local-area farmers and then moving on to Spokane to start a family and pursue different careers. He worked at Scafco Construction and then launched his own janitorial business, which he enjoyed for many years.

Ivan enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, fishing, spending time with family and helping family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Clem and Teresa Groh, along with younger brother Gregory Groh, stepsister Teresa Starzman, stepbrother Jeff Starzman and longtime friend Sandy Sharp.

Ivan, the oldest of five children, is survived by daughter Christina and Travis Zehm, granddaughter Jenna Zehm, stepmother Shirley Groh of Odessa, twin brother Irv (and Karen) Groh, brother Ken (and Bindy) Groh, sister Cathie (and Brad) Frederick, stepbrothers Wade (and Traci) Starzman, Kurt (and Vicki) Starzman and stepsister Cathy Starzman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. February 20, 2016 at Strate Funeral Home, 505 10th Ave. in Davenport. A dessert reception will follow at the Davenport Masonic Temple, 915 Morgan St., in Davenport. A special thank you is sent out to the staff at the Good Samaritan, Day Spring unit for their loving care. Memorials in memory of Ivan can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa.
