Schuh shines at Bloomsday

Odessa’s Travis Schuh turned in the fastest time among Odessa and Lincoln County runners in Spokane’s Bloomsday race May 1. He finished his race in 48:55, narrowly outpacing Davenport’s 18-year-old Nathan Hopkins who had a time of 50:07.

Almira’s Darren McCall finished in 1:05:34, Creston’s Alicia Rosman in 1:21:21, Edwall’s Mariah Wollweber in 1:31:42, Harrington’s Jaeger Jacobson in 1:09:45, Reardan’s Carson Torkelson in 1:17:40, Sprague’s Tracey Korthuis in 1:12:36 and Wilbur’s Eric Wyborney in 1:00:12.

Schuh placed 290th among all participants in the race. He sped up the Doomsday hill in 03:01 and managed a pace per mile of 06:33 (the average pace for other 40-year-olds was 14:50. He also placed 8th among the 713 people the same age as he.

He was the top finisher among Odessa’s 10 participants in the race and 6th out of the 259 other 40-year-old males.
