Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, July 11: EMTs from Reardan and Edwall assisted Davenport ambulance personnel in caring for a 67-year-old Edwall woman suffering severe abdominal pain.

A Davenport woman reported she was the target of harassment.

A Grand Coulee man told dispatchers a storage unit had been broken into.

Davenport Family Foods personnel reported that a man reached across a counter inside the store and grabbed a woman employed there. He is no longer welcome in the store.

A Grand Coulee man reported someone is using his bank account without permission and would have withdrawn more than $1,000 had not his bank blocked the transaction. He also reported a truck he had loaned to someone has not been returned as expected.

Someone unbolted a generator and attempted to remove it from a Davenport man’s RV parked below the Fort Spokane Store.

Heading to the 1100 block of Adams Street in Davenport, deputies responded to a report of a dispute involving a woman and her daughter.

Tuesday, July 12: Creston School District personnel reported the theft of 275 gallons of diesel fuel from the bus storage area.

A caller reported a confrontation with a man at the Davenport Water Park that included a threat to use a firearm after disputing about children crossing a street in front of a vehicle, causing its driver to have to hit the brakes.

A caller shared her concern about a pedestrian suffering from dementia who walked in front of her vehicle in the vicinity of U.S. 2 and Sherman Draw Road in the Wilbur area. She told dispatchers she had to slam on her brakes to avoid hitting him.

A Hawk Creek area resident reported receiving harassing phone calls.

Wednesday, July 13: Reardan EMTs and Davenport ambulance personnel assisted an elderly woman described as extremely disoriented and having abdominal problems.

Water was reportedly shooting from an irrigation line near SR 28 in the Odessa area.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on U.S. 2 about four miles east of Creston.

A collision between a car and semi-truck was reported on Morgan Street in front of Trader’s Express in Davenport. Even though he lost consciousness, one of the drivers declined medical assistance.

Deputies checked out a report of a possible burglary at a residence on Miles Road.

Dispatchers learned about a woman yelling in an alley behind Banner Bank in Davenport.

A Sprague woman reported someone messed with her car while parked at a residence on Max Harder Road.

Responding to the 1400 block of Morgan Street, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a woman who fell and hit her head.

With a deputy’s assistance, Wilbur Police followed a 27-year-old man from the Country Lane RV Park, to the local golf course, through a field, across U.S. 2, across a creek and finally into a barn adjacent to SR 21 – all to help him into dry clothes and a courtesy ride to Grand Coulee.

Odessa Police investigated the theft of more than $860 from a local man’s debit card.

Reardan Police responded to a report of a woman hurt while trying to break up two dogs fighting in the 600 block of East Cottonwood, leaving the end of her finger bitten off.

National Park Service personnel assisted a stranded boater on the Spokane River arm near the Fort Spokane boat launch.

Thursday, July 14: Almira firefighters helped rescue a man who got stuck in the floor at a local residence.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe workers responded to a report that railroad crossing arms at Mohler were going up and down.

A work crew used a front end loader and two pickup trucks to clean up debris in Govan.

An Edwall woman reported receiving a suspicious phone call, allowing it to go to voice mail. A deputy advised her not to give out any personal information over the phone.

A man described as “young and Japanese” aroused a caller’s suspicions when observed walking around Davenport’s downtown corridor asking people to buy jewelry.

A man reported the theft of a pickup truck, trailer and man lift from a jobsite near the Seven Bays marina. Later, the vehicle had been returned but damage was reported to the lift.

A caller said someone built boxes around a light on property on View Court in the Seven Bays area and spray-painted the boxes and the light.

A caller expressed concern about two children in a vehicle left running with no adults around in the 400 block of C Street in Sprague.

An ambulance was sent to assist the driver of a vehicle that struck a deer on SR 25 about nine miles north of Davenport, causing the airbag to deploy. Two young children also were in the vehicle.

A United Parcel Service truck collided with a deer on SR 174 in the Spring Canyon area.

Wilbur Police responded to a report that a man walked into the local medical clinic, grabbed a handful of suckers and left, slamming the door behind him.

Odessa Police investigated the possible theft of a local man’s wallet with $32 and health and insurance information inside.

Reardan Police took a report that a Ford Ranger registered to AgVentures NW in Odessa had been stolen from a building in Reardan.

Friday, July 15: A Sprague man reported receiving scam IRS calls.

While parked in the 700 block of Marshall Street in Davenport, a vehicle was struck by another that left the scene, leaving the right front fender damaged. No note or information was left.

A pickup truckload of garbage, including computer and appliance parts, along with kids’ toys, was discovered after being illegally dumped along Alexander Road east of Krupke Road near Reardan.

Responding to property on Laney Road East, a deputy joined firefighters and ambulance personnel from Sprague to assist a man who was pinned under a gate that fell on him. He was transported to a Spokane hospital for treatment for a possible broken shoulder.

A resident on Hawk Creek Ranch Road northwest of Davenport reported her house trashed, a battery taken from her vehicle and her back door smashed.

A blown tire left a vehicle and trailer stranded along SR 25 about two miles north of Davenport.

Dispatchers were informed about a dispute between Edwall neighbors about trash that had been dumped along Oregon Street.

A Reardan man reported a man walking dogs “yelled and screamed” at him while he drove on Alexander Road.

A vehicle collided with a pig that was running loose on U.S. 2 near the Davenport airport.

Responding to the 300 block of East 3rd, Odessa Police and a deputy checked out a report of a domestic dispute involving a man and woman.

Saturday, July 16: Bales of hay fell from a truck traveling on Interstate 90 near Sprague, with a few going over a car. Washington State Patrol troopers also responded to separate calls of a white horse and a mattress on the freeway.

A tire blew out on a truck and hay trailer, leaving the unit disabled along U.S. 2 near Davenport.

After pulling out a window screen, someone took a box fan from that window, gaining access to a residence in the 1000 block of Twelfth Street in Davenport. DVDs and jewelry also were reported taken. The residents were involved in the Pioneer Days “Movie in the Park” event at the time.

Deputies made two arrests in connection with a residential burglary in Sprague after an alert caller spotted a dark green pickup truck believed to have been involved traveling in the 700 block of SW Dayton Street.

A 22-year-old woman was treated at a local hospital after being in a vehicle involved in a rollover collision on U.S. 2 about two miles east of Davenport.

Safe and sound was the outcome after a 3-year-old boy got separated from his parents in the Davenport city park during Pioneer Days events.

Sunday, July 17: Creston ambulance personnel assisted a woman who had fallen.

Odessa firefighters responded to a fire in the vicinity of SR 28 and Nemo Road believed to have been caused by a lightning strike.

Lincoln Hospital personnel treated an 80-year-old Seven Bays woman who was bitten by a dog.

A caller expressed concern about an elderly woman who he observed sitting for six hours in a car at the intersection of Seventh and Park streets in Davenport.

A blown tire resulted in a one-vehicle rollover collision on Interstate 90 about 10 miles east of Sprague, killing a 67-year-old Lynnwood, Wash., man dead. Sprague ambulance personnel and the Washington State Patrol were involved in the response.

An older woman sitting alone on a bench in the Sprague city park was observed “yelling” unintelligible words.

After a caller reported hearing shots near the bowling alley in Davenport, a responding deputy determined that the two young men he discovered there had permission to be there.

A deputy advised the driver of a vehicle stopped for slowing down, speeding up and crossing the center line while on U.S. 2 near Zeimer Road east of Davenport to pull over and get some needed sleep. The driver insisted he was not drunk or stoned and was “wide awake” after the deputy told him his driving was dangerous and could have resulted in a collision. A negligent or reckless driving citation was avoided this time.
