Tribute: Elaine Zeiler

Elaine Mabel (Portch) Zeiler passed away in her sleep on August 17, 2016, at "From The Heart" Home in Pasco. She was born September 23, 1926 in Wilbur. Elaine was raised on the family farm in the Sherman area of Lincoln County. Later, the family moved into the town of Wilbur where Elaine attended Wilbur High School.

On June 9, 1946, Elaine was married to Vernie Zeiler from Odessa by Reverend Arthur A. Joda at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilbur. They farmed southeast of Odessa until September 1969, when they moved to Lynnwood. In September 1998, they moved to Kennewick. Elaine remained at their home in Kennewick after Vernie's death in November 2006, until moving into the "From The Heart" home in April 2016.

Elaine is survived by three brothers, Dan Portch (Darlene) of Wilbur, Jim Portch (Louise) of Lynnwood and Dale Portch (JoAnn) of Wilbur; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Portch of Spokane and Ann Portch of Moses Lake; three children, son Gary Zeiler (Sandee) of Pasco, daughter Linda Proctor (Steve) of Kennewick, daughter Wanda Skoog (Jim) of Kennewick; eight grandchildren, Tiffany (Zeiler) Bailie, Stephen Donovan, Jeremy Donovan, Kelli Proctor, Sarah (Proctor) McDowell, Julie (Proctor) Grant, Ginger (Krell) Lancaster, Shaelynn (Rosanbalm) Nolan; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond C. and Luella M. Portch; her husband, Vernie Zeiler; sister, Nora Miller; brothers, Bill Portch, Jack Portch, Bob Portch and Raymond A. Portch; son-in-law Norman Krell; and grandson Jared Jacob Zeiler.

A funeral mass was held August 24, 2016 at the Parish of The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kennewick. A private interment will take place at a later date in Odessa.
