Wes Morris was born March 30, 1946, and entered into rest on February 23, 2017. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. As a child, he and his family would spend entire summers moving from one campground to the next in search of adventure. He graduated from Wilbur High Sschool in 1964, where he was a drummer in the band, and carried his love for music throughout his life.

Wes was a sailor and retired after spending 21 years in the U.S. Navy. He traveled all over the world and was always eager to share his stories. After his retirement, Wes went to Saudi Arabia and worked as a civilian contractor for the U.S. government. Later he moved to Odessa to be close to his children, before making his final home in Spokane Valley.

Wes is survived by his children, Mark (Julie) Morris, Carrie (George) Crow and Julie (Kevin) Pereira; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dean (Cheryl) Merrill, Gene (Barbara) Merrill, Doug (Yolanda) Marshall, Steve Marshall, Sharon (Gregg) Greenwald and Eddy Marshall; 15 nieces and nephews and 16 great-nieces and -nephews.

The family is grateful to the staff at Valley Pines Retirement Home, Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for the care and compassion given to Wes during his final days. A graveside service was held March 3, 2017 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at Medical Lake. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the veteran’s charity of choice.
