Masons' scholarship goes to Odessa's valedictorian

Each year, the Washington State Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons awards somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen scholarships for outstanding students across the state. For the size of our state, not that many are awarded. This year Elizabeth Larson of Odessa High School was awarded the Grand Lodge Legacy Award in the amount of $2,000. Over the past approximately eight years, this is the third time an Odessa student has been awarded one of the few scholarships from Grand Lodge, via our local Masons in Odessa Lodge No. 156. Local Odessa Masons provide the connection and access to these opportunities. The statistics speak highly for the qualities of our Odessa School system and especially the academic achievements of our students. There are a lot of high school students in the state of Washington, yet Odessa students seem to be claiming high marks among them, says Dennis Thompson, Deputy of the Grand Master.
