Tribute

Walter Winter

Walter Winter, an Odessa resident, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017, at Prestige Care Center in Clarkston, Wash. Walt was born September 3, 1922, to Michael and Zelemia (Bohnet) Winter. He married Helen Baumgart on August 26, 1951, and together they had five children. Walt served in the U. S. Navy as a Fireman, First Class.

Walt is survived by his wife, Helen Winter, his "twins," Patricia Winter of Lewiston, Idaho and Dale Winter of Davenport, Wash .; his brother, Art Winter, of Odessa; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Neal Walter Winter; daughters Christy Martin and Donna Bren; brother, Albert Winter; sisters, Esther Greenwalt, Pauline Leisle, Dorothy Schafer and Viola Fode; grandson, Matthew Bren, and great-grandson, Dominic Riley Perry.

Walt was a long-time farmer who loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and trap shooting (and excelled at the storytelling that went with that). Walt was very talented at building, could fix almost anything, and loved to tinker in his home shop.

Walt was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.

A service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Zion Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by Strate Funeral Home of Davenport, Wash.
