Spokane Convention Center to host Wheat U in December

Spokane, WA - Wheat growers in the Pacific Northwest are welcome to attend Wheat U, a one-day, information-packed educational opportunity December 5 at the Spokane Convention Center.

Sponsored by BASF, Wheat U promises to deliver a wealth of profit-enhancing wheat production and marketing information. Wheat U is structured as a combination of keynote speakers and breakout sessions. The keynote speaker, Dr. Pete Berry, is a crop physiologist at ADAS UK in the United Kingdom. It is an independent research organization that improves food and feed production efficiency. Dr. Berry is one of the world's foremost authorities on high-yield wheat production systems and has developed a blueprint to help UK wheat producers maximize wheat yields.

The program begins with a panel of high-achieving grower leaders, from whom attendees can learn top production tips and tricks.

Breakout sessions, repeated four times throughout the day, include fertility management for high protein and high yield, weed management, disease and insect management, and more.

The event concludes with a panel discussion from brewery and bakery experts, who will advise wheat growers on preferred characteristics in winter wheat.

Wheat U is free to attend and includes a complimentary luncheon, courtesy of event sponsors BASF, Washington Association of Wheat Growers, Capital Press and High Plains Journal. Farmers are asked to register online at http://www.wheatu.com
