Football team beats ACH, volleyball girls get a split

Football

The Tiger football team defeated the Almira-Coulee-Hartline team, so often their nemesis, to take the league championship crown. The Tigers took a pounding in the first half but must have had some kind of pep talk in the locker room at half time. They came out in the third quarter and were on fire.

Now back at full strength after being out with an injury, starting quarterback Camden Weber completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for a total of 252 yards in the air, including two touchdowns. Weber also rushed for another 68 yards, keeping the ball three times for TDs. Gaven Elder rushed for 141 yards on 19 carries and fellow senior Colton Hunt rushed for 126 yards on 20 carries, as both crossed the goal line twice. Hunt also had another two TDs receiving.

On defense, Weber showed his skills on both sides of the field, leading the team with eight solo tackles and two assists. Elder added seven solos and two assists and Josh Clark contributed six solos and one assist. Theron Schlomer and Tim DeWulf each had a QB sack.

Volleyball

On October 26, the Tiger volleyball team had their second loss of the week in an away conference game against Valley Christian. They lost by a score of 3-1.

Game one: 17-25 VC

Natosha Boss, Amber Smith, McKennah Davision, Maddy Wagner and Brenna Carstensen of the varsity team play Columbia (Hunters), winning in three straight.

Game two: 25-17 Odessa

Game three:18-25 VC

Game four: 21-25 VC

Amber Smith had four aces while Brenna Carstensen had 24 assists and 12 digs. McKennah Davison had one block, and Maddy Wagner led the team with 12 kills.

The third conference game of the week was a home game against Columbia (Hunters) on October 28, with the Tigers winning by a score of 3-0.

Game one: 25-14 Tigers

Game two: 25-12 Tigers

Game three: 25-15 Tigers.

Smith had seven aces and nine digs, while Carstensen had 20 assists. Ma. Davison six kills and little sis Mc. Davison two blocks.

Next up for the Tiger volleyball team is an away game in Selkirk for District VB on November 2, where the ladies take on the Northport Mustangs.
