The Odessa Record -

Community project needs local votes

December 7, 2017

The Odessa High School chapter of FBLA delivered 553 meals to 44 local senior citizens as part of their community service project. Using $100 from Spokane Teachers Credit Union (STCU), they purchased supplies to decorate 200 caramel apples which they sold at various events throughout October and November. When the last caramel apple had been sold, they had raised $1,051.25 to purchase ingredients to cook the freezer meals.

Students met over Thanksgiving vacation and cooked a variety of items, including beef stew, lasagna, chicken enchiladas, chicken and wild rice, beef pasta with mushrooms, chicken and noodles and Mexican lasagna, which were delivered last week.

Now, the students need the help of the community. They have submitted this project to compete in a contest hosted by STCU. The school with the most votes and best video will win $2,500. Voting is open through Friday, December 8. Go to http://www.hundreddollarproject.org, scroll to the bottom, and choose Odessa HS FBLA and add your email address. You are allowed to vote once each day.
