Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, April 23: State Department of Transportation personnel reported spray-painted graffiti at the U.S. 2 Telford rest area. A responding deputy was unable to find any tagging there.

After receiving a woman’s report of a vehicle that “blew through multiple stop signs and almost hit” her in the vicinity of Morgan and First streets, a responding deputy traced it to the Davenport Sports Complex. The driver explained he was from out of town and there to umpire a baseball game. He told the deputy he didn’t see the stop sign until after he drove through the intersection, but was verbally warned anyway.

Davenport School District personnel asked for a welfare check on an elementary student whose at-school conversation suggested she might harm herself as a response to a possible bullying incident.

Deputies investigated a report that a young teenage girl had been receiving nude photos from an older teen boy in the eastern Lincoln County area.

A caller reported a pipe was sticking up about five inches from the pavement on Denny Station Road near the Eleanor elevators. A responding deputy was able to use a chain and pull it out.

Cargo apparently fell from a semi-truck and posed a traffic hazard for motorists in the vicinity of SR 174 and 21 near Wilbur.

A Reardan caller reported the theft of a tablet, backpack, pillows, clothing and a phone from the 52000 block of Bisson Road East.

Tuesday, April 24: A caller reported a vehicle on its top in a field near the intersection of Alexander and Addington roads in the Reardan area. A responding deputy was able to identify the young driver involved and helped get him to Lincoln Hospital for an examination.

Sandy’s Family Foods personnel in Wilbur reported receiving three checks for insufficient funds for a bit over $300.

A caller reported a neighbor along Sterling Valley Road in the Lincoln area had fired shots from a high-powered rifle, possibly in violation of a no-contact order from the court. After a similar complaint was filed two days later, a responding deputy noticed the placement of a target on a fence and that the shooting was being done safely and without harm to others.

A 22-year-old female county jail inmate tried to make a run for it while being escorted back to jail from Superior Court. She didn’t make it far and a felony escape charge was added to the burglary charges she was being held for.

Responding to the 200 block of NW Watson, Creston ambulance personnel assisted a 65-year-old man who suffered an apparent seizure.

A caller asked deputies to look for her wedding ring that she believes may have been lost while at the Wilbur town park.

A Wilbur man reported being bitten by a German shepherd dog and then assaulted by its owner during a confrontation between them.

Odessa Police responded to a trespassing incident involving two men at the local softball field.

Wednesday, April 25: An investigating deputy determined that a Wilbur caller’s report of two men engaged in sexual activity outside an apartment unit in the 500 block of NW Armstrong was unfounded.

A caller requested a deputy’s assistance after encountering an irate individual while looking at a house to purchase in the 100 block of North First Street in Harrington.

A corrections deputy broke up a fight involving two county jail inmates.

Thursday, April 26: An aggressively driven vehicle was spotted trying to pass the pilot vehicle while traveling westbound through the U.S. 2 construction zone between Reardan and Davenport.

Dispatchers were concerned while taking a 911 call from a woman engaged in a loud argument with a man while both were at the Sprague RV Park. A 3-year-old child also was in the area.

Deputies assisted a distraught mother locate a teenage girl who had run away from their Davenport residence. The matter was referred to local mental health personnel.

A Wilbur woman told dispatchers that a man had ordered her to leave the laundry room of her apartment complex in the 500 block of NW Armstrong while her clothing was still inside the machines.

Reardan Police responded to a report of a 14-year-old boy in possession of tobacco while at school.

Friday, April 27: Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a woman who seemed disoriented after a collision with a deer on I-90.

A Sprague area caller advised she had been struck in the face and had her hair pulled during a confrontation with another woman in an apartment complex on Max Harder Road North.

Windows were found shattered in a vehicle that had been left along Old Sunset Highway near Sprinkle Road in the Reardan area.

A deputy’s assistance was needed to successfully persuade a teenage boy to get out of a vehicle that had been driven to the owner’s residence in the 700 block of North Adler in Wilbur.

Saturday, April 28: A Wilbur area woman reported receiving harassing phone calls and text messages.

A woman reported her dog had been attacked by another dog in the vicinity of the 300 block of Sinclair Street in Davenport.

After a caller reported seeing a red pickup truck loading up stuff from a house on Huddle Corner Road, responding deputies investigated it as a possible burglary.

A Davenport woman expressed concern about an individual apparently attempting to set fire to stereo equipment inside a garage in the 700 block of Marshall Street.

Deputies issued a criminal citation for burning without a permit after responding to a report of a large slash fire south of Davenport on Fitness Lane.

Sunday, April 29: A caller reported a train had blocked traffic on Oregon Street in Edwall for more than 30 minutes.

After staff asked for assistance, Wilbur and Creston ambulance personnel were enlisted to transport a 79-year-old man with breathing difficulties from Vista Manor to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.

A Davenport woman expressed concern for children’s safety after encountering what she described as an “aggressive” squirrel in the 600 block of Main Street. A responding deputy determined the juvenile squirrel was possibly looking for its parents and advised everyone to leave it alone.

Two individuals were taken to jail after deputies caught up with a vehicle reported stolen from Marysville, Wash., while investigating an incident in the vicinity of Redwine Canyon and Angstrom roads east of Creston.

Various items were reported stolen from a storage unit in Grand Coulee.

April 25: Chance Richard Lindback, 27, Kettle Falls, arrested by LCSO for reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, and an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant.

April 26: Ryan James Frick, 32, Odessa, arrested by LCSO for resisting arrest and driving while license suspended.

April 27: Jerin Leigh Hennigs, 20, Okanogan, Wash., arrested by LCSO for driving while license suspended.

April 29: Jack Wayne Covey, 46, Lincoln, arrested by LCSO for failing to appear for reckless driving.

Civil Judgment

Mandy A. Waters, of Wilbur, must return $3,461.90 in overpaid benefits to the Washington State Department of Employment Security.

New Criminal Cases

Michael George Swan, Jr., 48, of Spokane, and Thomas Henry S. Ellison III, 30, of Sprague, are charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree attempted theft in connection with the April 19 taking of a radiator from a building near the intersection of Scott and Harrington Airport roads.

Stephani Carla Rodriguez, 54, of Spokane, is charged with first-degree trafficking in stolen property, accused of cashing in some of the loot taken from April 19 to 21 from a residence on Hart Road north of Davenport. According to the prosecutor’s filing, between $30,000 and $40,000 cash, along with $70,000 in gold and silver coins, silver and gold bars, jewelry and firearms, were taken during the burglaries. The cashed-in items were found with the aid of a map allegedly smuggled out of jail by a suspect in the burglary that were buried in a cemetery in Stevens County.

Adalya Elaine Breaux, 22, of Edwall, is charged with second-degree escape after she got away from deputies escorting her back to the county jail following a Superior Court hearing. She allegedly went through a metal wall, down an alley, and was found under a deck in the 300 block of Sinclair Street in Davenport.

Joshua S. Hodges, 25, of Colville, is charged with possessing a stolen vehicle in connection with the April 29 recovery of a vehicle reported taken without the owner’s permission from Marysville, Wash.
