Athletic Hall of Fame

The 2018 inductees into the Odessa Athletic Hall of Fame were to be announced this week in our third annual publication of a commemorative booklet into this week’s issue of The Odessa Record. Things had been perking along nicely, and steady progress had been made on compiling the booklet when a monkey wrench got thrown into the works. So instead of being able to read the latest edition of the booklet, our readers will have to wait until next week for that happy circumstance. The members of the Hall of Fame committee have encouraged us to publicize the names of those inductees in this week’s issue, however, so that anyone wishing to be present for the awarding of the Hall of Fame plaques can make their plans with plenty of lead time.

The nine individual inductees for 2018 are: Wade Walter, Ellen Homberg Holman, Tom (TJ) Wolsborn, Jr., Marie Cronrath Grasso, Kurt Wolsborn, Keith Cronrath, Jeff Scrupps, Dalles Deife and Jason Iltz. The four teams selected for induction in 2018 are the 1993-94 B8 championship football team, the 1989-90 B8 championship football team, the 1989-90 Class A/B boys team tennis champions and the 1992-93 Class A/B boys team tennis champions.

The commemorative booklet will be included in next week’s issue of The Record.
