They participated in Project Build, part of the high-school chapter’s American Enterprise Project, where they learned the importance of budgeting and how to build a budget. The November 12 meeting of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce was held at noon in the public library with several guests in attendance. Hospital administrator Mo Sheldon introduced James DeDeaux, a mental health provider who has been hired as a member of the Odessa Clinic staff. DeDeaux and his wife have moved here from Mississippi. Odessa High School’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America celebrated FBLA Week with many fun activities. Sophomore class president Pilot Weishaar received a pie in the face from junior class president Ryan Moffet as part of the annual “Copper vs. Silver” competition. The senior citizens of Odessa have been the focus of community service by the local high school chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America for the past two years. Last year the chapter was able to donate $9,000 toward the new roof on the Old Town Hall, which is used for senior meals and SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) classes for seniors. While many categories reflect their dedication to community and feeding the hungry, the Volunteerism award best represents their work over the last year. Odessa's Got Pink? Team was in full force on Sunday, April 23, for the Pink Ribbon Run, a fundraiser to benefit early detection of breast cancer. The Got Pink? Team was originally formed in 2010 by Kim Todd, who was training for a marathon at the time, and over the years the team has grown to as many as 150 members.
